Hi! I'm wondering if any Rh negative moms on here have had to get a rhogam shot for spotting before 12 weeks? Were there any negative side effects for you or your LO from getting it so early on? Nervous..

I got it around 8 weeks.. And then again at the "normal" time (26 I think?) and again after birth. No negative effects other than how much the injection hurts!

I had to get it with both pregnancies around 7-8 weeks because of spotting. Then again at the normal time (28ish weeks). And then AGAIN after birth. No negative side effects except that it hurts, like @Anya: said! Totally nothing to be worried about though.

Of my four pregnancies, I have gotten it before the 12 weeks for three of them. My two boys are perfectly healthy, and I'm 10 weeks 5 days with my fourth pregnancy and so far so good! I only have one kid who was also RH-, all the rest I had to get the shot after they were born, as well as 28 weeks. I wouldn't worry

O negative here! I had spotting early in this pregnancy (April) but he didn't give me a RH shot. I had one in December though after my miscarriage. I always feel crap after I have the injection, and boy the prick hurts.

@fannymae How many weeks were you when you were spotting and did not receive the shot? I had a tiny tiny red dot when I wiped last week. I went in for an ultrasound and exam and everything checked out fine. I'm hoping it's irriatation from the progesterone applicator. I have a history of recurrent pregnancy loss so I kind of panicked and held off on the shot because I'm totally paranoid about doing anything in my first trimester with my history. Now I'm nervous, regretting it, and feeling like an idiot. I can still go in and get one tomorrow. I called the manufacturer and they said women have benefited from it up to two weeks after about 50% of the time. My midwife said I was at a very very low risk because of how little it was and the exam checked out okay. I feel like I just added on so much more stress for no reason other than my anxiety.

@LalaLove: I had some very very faint pink spotting at about 6 weeks. I saw my OB at 7 weeks, and there was some bleeding visible on the ultrasound, so he put me on progesterone pessaries, and the spotting had gone within 2 days. Perhaps it wasn't enough to warrant an Anti-D shot? Or maybe because I had the shot within the last 6 months it wasn't needed? I didn't even ask With your previous losses did you get the shot?

@FannyMae: Yes, I've always had the shot and had one at 28 weeks with my DD who is negative like me. At 6 -7 weeks there is nothing to worry about. I was 9 weeks so I'm a little concerned but hoping for the best and my midwife does not seem too concerned. Thanks for the help!

@LalaLove: all the best my DD is O +, so I guess hubby is + too. I still have a few more months before its time for my shot, I'll be cursing then heh

Yes, I got one the day I found out I was pregnant and had some subsequent spotting. LO isn't born yet, but is healthy and growing 12 weeks later, so far so good!

I got it after some spotting at ten weeks. LO is fine. (And does have a positive blood type, so it's a good thing I got the shot!)
