I bought a pricey bringing home baby outfit on Etsy for N but realized when it arrived that it hadn't been washed (the onesie was purchased from Carters so it smelled new still). I messaged the seller asking her suggestion for washing the outfit since there were hand sewn flowers on it. She told me to hand wash and hang dry. I did (with cold water) but the dye from the flowers colored the white onesie, not just a hue, the white onesie looks splotchy and terrible.
So, I messaged her letting her know and she said it's never happened before, along with "I don't know what to say". She didn't offer any resolution...I love her work but I'm just bummed since I paid $60 for an outfit for a newborn, it came unwashed and now it's ruined. What would you do?
I think it's sad she is not willing to work with you. If she said NOT to wash it and you did I think she has no obligation to replace the item. However, she told you to wash it and you followed her instructions, so in good faith, she should replace at no cost. If she does not replace, I would leave her bad feedback on etsy.
