We had the same argument last year. I said that the big stuff wasn't wrapped, but the smaller things were. He won and wrapped everything, including the slide and basketball goal.

@BabyBoecksMom: that is awesome the slide and basketball goal was wrapped.

@BabyBoecksMom: that's awesome.
We don't pre-build gifts. That stuff would have been in a box LOL

We usually got one big gift that wasn't wrapped, and everything else was.
I prefer wrapped. Because it's more fun to tear through paper.

Unwrapped. Growing up, my sister's Santa stuff would be on the couch and mine would be on the recliner chair.
If you wrap Santa gifts, how do you decide which gifts are Santa gifts and which ones are "From Mom & Dad"?

This is an ongoing debate at our house, and we're going on our third Christmas with a LO! DH always had unwrapped gifts and I always had wrapped. I think they should be wrapped because the biggest gift always came from Santa and it's always the last one you open. If it's just laying out on the floor in the morning, then the rest of the gifts are a let down I think. The war rages on!

@PawPrints: Our Santa gifts were in a different place than than family gifts.
Santa left gifts by the fireplace under the stockings. Family gifts were under the tree.

Santa's gifts are unwrapped and only out Christmas morning by/in the stockings.

We always had wrapped growing up, but I love the idea of Santa's toys being unwrapped around the tree like a big toy display.

We always did wrapped - Santa had different wrapping paper.
I like the idea of Santa bringing one gift each year, and I really love these burlap sacks.
I like the idea of making one and reusing it every year for Santa's gift.

@Bluemasonjar: your parents were super busy the night before! What time did you all open gifts?

Never knew about Santa gifts that come unwrapped until this thread!! (I come from a different country/culture)

In our house Santa just fills the stockings and we are going unwrapped. Growing up most years was wrapped. The stockings are by the fireplace, so you know what is from Santa.
This year I'm going to unpackage everything that goes into DS's stocking. I did that last year and it was nice that he could just play with everything.
He is going to have enough unwrapping to do with everything family sends.

Generally, I'm with your husband on this!
Growing up we always had both. Our big gifts were from Santa, and they were never wrapped (bikes, dollhouse, etc.). Then, my mom wrapped everything else--half was marked from Santa, half marked from them. They went nuts with Christmas though.
Sadie is only getting two things from Santa: a kitchen and dishes. They'll be unwrapped with bows. We're planning on having her "big gift" be from Santa every year, and it won't be wrapped.

@Smurfette: Also, so excited for our girls to see their kitchens! Take lots of pictures. I want to see her reaction!

We always had everything wrapped. I didn't know people did unwrapped. Sounds easier! Going to talk to DH now... With #2 arriving four days later, I'd love to cross wrapping of my list!

Everything will be wrapped except her ride on car. Just a bow for that.

Our Santa presents were unwrapped and assembled, but our presents from our parents were wrapped and still in the boxes. My mom had a rule that we could only ask Santa for 3 things because there was limited room in the sleigh, but we always got several little things from Santa in addition to what we asked for. It was a little strange how the elves left the empty boxes with Toys R Us stickers in the garage, but when I was little, I figured elves just made things as realistic as possible.
I imagine that we'll continue that tradition with our own family. I'll probably scale the gifts back from what my mom did though. She always goes way overboard on Christmas, even after we got older.

Growing up, our Santa gifts were always wrapped. I prefer that, for the fun of opening gifts. DH's Santa gifts were unwrapped...Neither of the girls is getting a "big" gift this year (size-wise), so I'm not sure what we'll do. In the past we have left big gifts (kitchen, dollhouse) unwrapped.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: My parents were busy! When I got older I started helping and was always worried that my little brothers would wake up. We had to wait until 7 am to wake up our parents to go downstairs. DH and I are debating whether or not we will continue the tradition of Santa bringing the tree.

@krispi: we were told we could ask for three gifts cause that is what baby Jesus got. Going to do the same.

Unwrapped. The night before, we would take our stocking and put it in our designated spot. When we woke up Christmas morning, Santa had everything in our spot. It was so cool to see it all out. We wrap family gifts.

Wrapped. Even the big presents. We only have 1 child at the moment but when we have more we will do what my parents did and each child gets their own Christmas wrapping paper on their presents. So a different style for each child.

Santa presents were wrapped in different paper, and he even has different hand writing than my mom did!
But big gifts, like bikes, just had a big bow!
The stocking things weren't wrapped though. But they were usually a smaller things that would be hard to wrap - except the time he hid my not so large but definitely "big" present (a bracelet) in there!
