We let LO watch an episode of doc mcstuffins while he was sick a month or so ago and he loved the songs!!! He started dancing Since then I'll turn it on once in a while, maybe once a week or so--he is interested for the first 3 min but then that's it. Sometimes I wish he liked it more so I could do other stuff, like unload the dishwasher, without him running over!

I am a screentime before age 2 mom,. admittedly not the highlight of my parenting career, but the reality of what happened.

eta: our issue is that once we get started on videos or games, it's all he wants to do and he doesn't forget. So we're better off not starting at all. It's just hard first thing in the morning on the weekend when we just need a few minutes before fully waking up.

We let LO watch some shows on BabyChannel or Disney Jr. She doesn't watch much- probably 20 mins all day, but it gives us something else to do at home. I do not see a big deal with a short amount of screen time per day watching an educational show.

@sorrycharlie: We do the same thing. We leave the tv on Disney Jr adn she only pays attention when the music comes on. She loves the choo choo soul song and Little Einsteins the best.

ETA: If she starts staring at it like a Zombie, we will definately turn it off, but right now, it is not a problem. It keeps her from seeing inappropriate things on tv if Disney Jr is on.

dh occasionally lets DS watch some babytv shows.

he likes mickey mouse clubhouse when we're on vaca.

we play youtube videos for him during long car rides if he's awake and gets fussy for parts of it.

We always have the TV on, but she's never really paid much attention to it. Last weekend though, L was being really fussy so I went to youtube and put on an episode of My Little Ponies - I don't think she's ever been more excited... haha. She was dancing and clapping and laughing - sooo cute! She's still pretty young to stay very still, but I don't have much of a problem with kids watching tv.

I let my first watch TV a lot -- Dora, Elmo, Einsteins, etc. I would put it on pretty much every morning. But that was because I needed her to be entertained while I got stuff done, and not hanging on my legs. Now that I have two, my youngest hardly watches TV at all because they entertain each other. It's actually pretty great. The only time they watch TV is sometimes on weekend mornings when DH and I want to sleep in, and I tell them to go watch cartoons.

Yes. She's in daycare for 10 hours a day. So if she watches a bit in the morning or evening I'm not too worried about it. Most of the time its not TV but iPad games that we are playing with her.

right there with ya. I like the background noise. the only time he actively watches is when Bubble Guppies is on, though. The rest of the time he plays and ignores it!

My LOs get screentime during the NFL season!

I'm a screentime mummy!!! I swore I wasn't going to be, as well!! I hate the TV and don't have it on at all when I'm home alone - with or without DD. But DH loves his telly and we noticed that it completely captured DD's attention when she was in the room. "All the more reason not to let her watch it" I cried but DH was adamant that it wasn't a problem and, one day, when he was looking after her (while I was packing for our few days away) he put the BBC babies channel on and she went WILD! Cooing, squealing, waving her arms and legs about....! Given that DD is NOT a cheery kind of girl - I mean, she's VERY underwhelmed by most things - how could I say no to this?!! She is allowed half an hour of screen time per day, in the early evening when she is usually grumpy and fussing anyway. The shame!! lol

I wasn't planning on being a screen time parent, but you know, I wasn't planning on co-sleeping or breastfeeding past 18 months either! The best laid plans!

We watch Jeopardy many nights. She's not sitting right in front of it, but at 7 p.m. she requests Jeopardy and Trebec and sings the final Jeopardy music. On some weekends (we don't have a schedule or anything, she went a couple of weeks without watching one of her shows) she may watch an episode or two of Tiger (Daniel Tiger) or George (Curious George).

For the most part we have music on in the background all day, our cable channel has a toddler time music channel. @babynumber1: My daughter loves that choo choo soul song, too.

Honestly, I'm not too worried. She's pretty advanced for her age and we're going to make sure she doesn't have excessive screen time and that she is still an active little one. She won't have a TV in her bedroom; we only have TV in the living room.

My kids get regular screentime, but only on the weekends. They're not home during the week long enough to have screentime! On daycare days it's home, dinner, bath, bed.

Wagon Jr. loves tv, of course, but we cut back when we start to see it affecting his behavior.

On days I'm home with LMW I try so many TV shows to see if ANYTHING interests her. She just does not like tv! I'm one of those people who is begging the kid to watch tv so I can go to the bathroom or put the dishes in the sink! She watches like 4 seconds then comes back to me, whining.

@looch: this. She loves Sesame Street and Eebee, and if we start she doesn't want to stop and she remembers the next day where I hid thee controller, lol.

LO is 18 months and watches Sesame Street on Netflix when we need to get something done or when she is having breathing problems and we need her calm. That can range from zero minutes a day to 2+ hours of screen time. Lately it has been more because of holiday prep and I am feeling the guilt, but most of the time when she watches one episode or less I am fine with it.

@mrs. wagon: HA, this is my toddler! She is more interested in pulling out her sister's bows and following me around the house.

DD has zero interest in TV, but she loves to watch Pardon the Interruption with DH and Jeopardy with me. Totally fine with me, I see no issue. She is in daycare most of the time doing craft, sports etc and she reads a ton of books at home so I think she gets lots of variety.

Yep, he's 13 months and he likes to watch Conan. He just likes the part in the beginning when he does his opening act. I don't know what it is, but he's smitten by Conan. And a couple of weeks ago, I downloaded some Fisher price app and he loves it. I regret doing that though because now he always wants my phone. When before he paid no attention to it.

We watch a little bit a few times a week before bed.

C loves anything with music or singing.

@loveisstrange: Sadie too! She mostly pays no attention to whatever is on until a commercial with an up-beat song comes on, then she whips right around and starts dancing. There are a couple really annoying Target holiday commercials that she loves right now.

@photojane: C is obsessed! lol. She really loves Judy Garland. She is absolutely transfixed by The Wizard of Oz and freaks out any time Dorothy sings.

I think its because her daddy is a musician and we ALWAYS have music playing.
