With my last pregnancy I had preterm labor that caused some progression before they managed to stop it. My cervix thinned, shortened, and dilated to 2. After a five day stay in l&d everything went back to normal.

This time is looking to be the same way, I go in for an ultrasound to measure my cervix tomorrow (30 weeks) after sharing with OB all the contractions I had last week.

I had mild contractions and preterm labor starting in early 3rd tri. I got dilated to 1.5, 50% effaced and cervix shortened to 2.7 maybe (or 2.4, I can't remember) - at 30 weeks. A hospital stay, meds, and then 7 weeks of bedrest and I did not progress further on bedrest, but remained dilated, effaced, and shortened cervix. Delivered just 10 days early (taken off bedrest at 37 1/2 weeks). At my 18 week anatomy scan, my cervix was a totally normal length and I hadn't had any ultrasounds or measurements in between.

My sister delivered her first 6 weeks early, then was diagnosed with cervical incomptence with her 2nd and 3rd pregancies, was on bedrest, but delivered full term.
