We were team green and got very few clothes at our shower (but TONS after she was born). Our BRU registry was pretty much all fulfilled, but our PBK registry didn't get much love.

We announced and mostly got gifts from our registry at our shower. . . I did receive gifts after LO's birth that were pretty much all clothes. People just love clothes shopping for baby girls!

We were team green when we made our registry, because we intended on not finding out until it slipped up. We decided not to tell the world until at our shower. We got almost everything off our Target registry and only a few clothing items which oddly enough were either for a boy or a girl, not neutral. I guess people just assumed *they* knew what we were having. I LOVED having it this way. We got SO many necessities. Diapers, wipes, soaps, sheet protectors, hangers, feeding supplies monitors, a bouncy seat etc all in neutral. Rather than getting all pink clothes, we got all practical things that we can use for future babies.

We announced the gender and mostly received clothes that we didn't register for.

I think if someone is going to buy you 5 outfits, they're going to do it no matter what you are having. Gender neutral, girl, or boy.

@Modern Daisy: what?!!? CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!! awww we go back to WB days. It's like when I found out @hilsy was pregnant. Tears.

We are adopting and don't know what we're having yet. Our first shower was this weekend and we got mostly registry items and only a couple outfits/sleepers. I was really pleased to get so many things we registered for!

I have a little bit different perspective in that my shower was not held until after I had the baby bc he came early. But I think a boy baby shower is different than a girl baby shower. Even though all my guests knew that I was having (and then had) a boy I got mostly registry gifts and hardly any clothes, but I did not register for any clothes besides basics.
My sister had her girl baby shower a few months later and got a TON of clothes and fewer "practical" gifts off her registry.
In my experience, I have seen guests tend to buy cute clothes for girl showers and tend to buy registry gifts for boy showers.
ETA: And a cautionary tale, my SIL was told she was having a boy, got boy clothes and blue, blue, blue for her shower and it ended up being a girl. Most of those clothes ended up coming to me when my son was born.

With our first we were team green and got lots of registry items at our huge co-ed shower, which was great! With our second we found out it was a girl, I had an intimate girls-only shower (sprinkle?) and I got tons of girly little things, which was SO great because my first was a boy and I was so excited about girly-ness (since everything we have is neutral or boyish!) and we didn't need much anyway in terms of gear.

I've done both!

With my first we announced & got very gender oriented clothes & toys. Almost nothing off the registry from guests other than immediate family (grandparents). Many of the clothes we got weren't right size for season either so G didn't get to wear them all.

With P we were team green & got LOTS off the registry & the clothes we did get were basic assorted sized onesies & a cute red zip up hoodie that would work for either.

With our next we plan on doing a gender reveal sprinkle.

@BabyBruins: Agree -- even having a boy, I got a lot of registry things. Boy clothes just aren't as fun to buy for people, it seems.

We revealed the gender, and got mostly registry items. We got lots of clothes, blankets, etc. but most everything from our registry was purchased too.

I announced and we got mostly registry items anyways -- but the clothing that was gifted was all boy!

We announced, and were registered, but almost everything we received were clothes or diapers.

Yes. (Girl.)
2) About what percentage of your gifts were from your registry?
I don't know maybe 5%?! BUT our registry was so small that not everyone could have bought off of it even if they wanted to. And if you include gift cards and money to buy things ourselves probably 80-90%. Even those who gave clothes often gave $$ or gcs.
3) How many clothes did you receive that were not registered for?
Including all gifts, not just the showers, LOTS! We had 2 small showers but most of the clothes were not given during the showers, and lots came from our parents' friends who we don't even know. Also as I said lots came w/ GCs.

All in all I think you will get more off registry if you don't announce gender.
