What kind of skin care products did you use while pregnant? I'm not even really sure what NOT to use!

I switched from Aveeno to Yes to Carrots. It worked so well that I haven't switched back.

I use whatever I did before becoming pregnant. I asked my OB during my last pregnancy if salicylic acid in face wash was ok and she said it was. I used Neutrogena my whole pregnancy last time.

aside from acne products like accutane, and retinol products, there's not much you absolute can't use- you can find cases for and against pretty much any other products ingredient, so it really depends on your own comfort level. There are a lot of pregnancy specific products you can find, but a lot of people seem to like using basics like witch hazel and tea tree oil products.
Personally i couldn't stand the smell of my regular face soap anymore in the first trimester, so I ditched it for a sensitive no-scent burts bees face wash. Lately I've been using tea tree wash and toner from the body shop.

I had such horrible skin when I was pregnant - pregnancy acne - so I'm curious to see what people recommend too!
I do know that when I was pregnant and had a facial, I reacted really badly to even the mildest glycolic acid (I had horrible redness, swelling and crazy itching). I also reacted poorly to things with fragrance in them. I've never had sensitive skin or issues with either of those things prior to pregnancy.

@Anya: I have a RX zit cream (Aczone) that is fairly new to the market so I can't find much on it other than it's Class C. I don't know whether it's worth changing or not though?

@littlebug: i like this one too, although the tomato version is the one that I suddenly couldn't stand the smell of!

I didn't make any changes either! Luckily, my normally-terrible and acne-ridden skin actually cleared up once I got pregnant. My OB said salicylic acid in my cleanser and spot-treatment are fine, so I didn't change a thing.

@LindsayInNY: hmm, is there anything on the packaging that says to ask your doctor about use in pregnancy? If it's a topical spot-treatment type thing it's probably not a big deal, not that much is getting absorbed.

@Pumpkin Pie: Just a change for the RX cream.
@Anya: Given that it's a RX, I'm guessing there's "ask your doctor" language. But it is just a spot treatment that I've been using as needed.

I wasn't going to make any changes but my SIL got me Say Yes to Carrots shampoo/body wash/lotion, and Neutrogena face wash that's paraben free. I also don't really use anything topical though. I still put on my face masks and mix using my regular products. My skin didn't really change during pregnancy.

I used Mario Badescu products. They are all natural. I was using them prior to being pregnant though.

I felt more comfortable not using anything with salicytic acid in it, so I mostly used cetaphil face wash and a burts bees tee tree oil spot treatment, but kept using my olay lotion. I feel like using spot treatment of anything now and then is probably fine but I felt better being extra careful. My skin was fine during pregnancy though- if I broke out horribly in sure I would have been more tempted.

I had terrible skin through most of my pregnancy and switched to the Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil line.
It worked well for pregnancy acne.

@Foodnerd81: I'm having mild zits pop up. Not a ton, just a couple but regularly? I do have Burts Bees so I might switch to that.

Retin A is a no-no....but otherwise none of my products are "bad". I use Philosophy's cleanser....Sheishido moisturizer.....a toner from Renee Rouleau....it's pretty simple. I've tried to pare down my routine over the years. It was getting too extensive (and $$)

I didn't make any changes, but I use very gentle and natural products to start with.
I specifically asked my OB about acne spot-treatments (containing salicylic acid or otherwise) and she was 100% fine with spot-treatments containing salicylic acid.

@Lindsayinny if you are breaking out due to pregnancy, it may go away in a couple weeks. That's what happened to me. Better not to use something you aren't comfortable with.

@Pumpkin Pie: I think it's the same breakouts as always Totally normal when you're 30... LOL.

I use and used Dr Woods Shea face wash. Pink label. I love love love it. The price is amazing and it leaves my skin amazing. It has tea tree oil in it.

I use Caudalie Premier Le Cru and like it. I've also used Skinceuticals and that was good as well....

@LindsayInNY: I had the worst breakouts of my life during this pregnancy. I bought a Clairsonic to try and minimize washing my face using the oil of my hands, tried all different products, etc. I was lucky as a teenager and never had more than the occasional zit, so I felt totally helpless when looking for pregnancy-safe products. I ended up using a lot of products from the Belli line. For individual zits I used their Acne Control Spot Treatment. All their products are available on their site or Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Belli-Anti-Blemish-Facial-Wash-6-5/dp/B00HHGPKZK). My doc recommended I stay away from my typical Benzoyl Peroxide, and these are made for pregnancy. Anyway, good luck-I know how frustrating it can be to feel like your skin has done a 180 on you during pregnancy!

With DD1 I didn't switch and kept using my Cetaphil. This pregnancy, I did switch to Ava Anderson Non-Toxic.

I had very sensitive and dry skin (eczema) pre-pregnancy. Now, not only is it still dry and sensitive, but I'm breaking out too! My bare escentuals is too harsh now. I've been using lush on a roll I think it's called. It's moisturizing but also has popcorn bits in it for exfoliation so my skin can breathe.

My skin (normal very sensitive and acne prone) went completely insane at 5 weeks. I feel like I've tried EVERYthing and now, at 23 weeks, finally have found something that's helped. I was already using gentle cleansers for sensitive skin before I got pregnant, but my face basically turned into a rash and acne mess with LO on board. On a tip from a blog, I tried goat's milk soap from Bend Soap Company (unscented) and their unscented lotion. After about 6 weeks on that, I'm finally (last 2-3 weeks) starting to feel better about my skin and look pretty good. Pregnancy makes everything heal sooooo slowly!

@LindsayInNY: I use an eczema cream on my hands that is a class c. My doctor okayed it for occasional use. I try not to use it often, but it is really the only thing that helps so I just try to use it very sparingly when I do use it.

@Mrs. Lion: That's kinda the approach I'm taking. Today skin was okay so I didn't use it. If I notice a breakout, I'll use it on just that area. I figure it's better than nothing? Honestly, our bodies probably absorb more from something like Tylenol than it does via skin.

I have terrible pregnancy acne right now! It's driving me crazy... I went to sephora the other day and asked an associate for something to deal with the acne that was also natural and safe... they recommended REN's ClearCalm line and gave me a bunch of samples... it's been working really well!

My doctor told me she didn't care what I used as long as it didn't have Retinol.
