Discovered my first food aversion today..2 days shy of 6 weeks.
Cheese ravioli and alfredo sauce. Not sure if they're mutually exclusive or not..afraid to try to find out!
I'm so sad..I love cheese ravioli.
Anyone else with food aversions that made you sad?

I get really sad when something sounds good so I make/get it but then once it's in front of me there's no way I can choke it down without puking. Also, can't handle chicken right now. I don't really eat any other type of meat just because I'm not a steak fan so I used to eat a lot of chicken. Hoping that aversion ends quickly. And soda, it just doesn't taste good to me anymore which is probably a good thing.

chicken, chicken texture, chicken flavor, and the smell of fried or roast chicken if i'm not the one eating it.

Mozzarella cheese. It's my favorite cheese so I bought a huge chunk of it only to find out I couldn't stand it. I was grossed out knowing it was in my fridge, so I threw it out and made hubby take the trash out. I couldn't have it in my house!

@artbee: I've been debating having DH throw out the alfredo sauce!! I thought I was crazy and that it would be such a waste, but it's sounding like a good idea!

@sorrycharlie: awww. Food aversions stink. I hate a lot of my pre-preg favorite foods now. My mom assured me it will be fine/back to normal after baby arrives.

@pastemoo: oh thank goodness. only 7 more months til I can have ravioli..lol!! all I've wanted to eat is grilled cheese and macaroni&cheese.

Boo - I have a protein aversion (chicken, red meat, eggs, etc.). It sucks. I'm living off carbs when I feel like eating anything...Can't wait for morning/noon/night sickness to go away.

When I had morning sickness with RJ, I couldn't stand the sight or smell of any protein cooking. We had a Weber book about grilling that had a picture of a steak on the front, and Rob Sr. had to take the book out of the house because I couldn't walk by the bookcase knowing that it was there!
The pregnant brain is a funny thing

@sorrycharlie: I thought about giving the cheese to someone because it was pretty expensive, but I just couldn't have it in my house any longer. Pregnant women do crazy things.

Bacon, sigh. Actually, meat and poultry in general, but bacon made me the saddest. The lingering smell of it made me vomit.
I was walking through Wegmans with DH yesterday and the cheese section made me gag...the fancy cheese section, not the pre-packaged stuff. I LOVE cheese. DH couldn't smell it, but I had to cover my nose and walk fast. So sad.

I'm generally a seafood person, but I wasn't too fond of shrimp the second half of my pregnancy. I'm okay with it now, but I don't like it as much as I used to. Weird.

I've been feeling queasy since before 4 weeks. I tested because I was already feeling sorta sick. Since 4.5 weeks it's just gotten worse. (I'm 7 weeks today.) I think the food aversions change from time to time, but the one that seems to stick is seafood. Yuck. (And I used to LOVE it.)

Meat aversions for sure. At first, it was all red meat. Then, it devolved into just about everything else including chicken. I handled chicken alright for awhile and now I don't want anything do with it.
I live off of anything vegetarian or peanut butter or carbs. I've been getting most of my protein from peanut butter and Greek yogurt. I threw up Greek yogurt once, but haven't since. I had it for breakfast this morning and managed to keep me full through to lunch and not nauseous.

@Cascadecherub- OMG I forgot about chicken! Nasty! I went to dinner with people who don't know yet, and I was picking the chicken off of the dish they ordered. I tried to do this discreetly but I was totally waiting for the strange looks.

@googly-eyes: I honestly could handle it just fine at the beginning more than red meat and pork. Suddenly, chicken just grossed me out. I managed to eat a chicken sandwich the other day, but it was dressed with a ton of stuff like cheese to mask the texture. If I eat chicken, it's fast food version which is more tolerable right now for some reason than healthy grilled chicken.

Yeah I think the only chicken I've eaten the last few weeks was a McChicken- which I usually dislike when not pregnant. I used to like food but it's more of a nuisance now..lol.

I hated meat with a passion for the first six months though I still can't stand the smell of barbeque.

Uggg... EVERYTHING! Chicken is absolutely awful. So is red meat. I can still stomach a pork chop, occasionally. So many foods that used to sound good sound awful now! I'm 17 weeks... not sure if this will last my whole pregnancy!
