The menu is planned, the invites are out...everything is in order for a baby shower I'm hosting. I'm now looking for ideas for those little extra touches--things that make moms-to-be feel special.
What has someone done for your shower to make it extra memorable? I'd love to get some ideas!

My sister made centerpieces for the tables that were stuffed animals wrapped in receiving blankets then put in baskets. While she kept the baskets, the animals and blankets were for us. A great gift that has already had two uses!

For my SIL's shower I got a children's book that went with the shower theme to use as a guestbook so her LO could have it later.
I recently went to a shower where they played a game that the mommy to be seemed to love. They surprised her by asking her husband questions about babies in general ( like how long do newborns sleep?) and questions about her pregnancy (like what was her biggest craving?). Then she had to guess how he answered all of the questions. The shower guests had to guess how many answers we thought she would get right.

My friend put together a super awesome dessert table! My MIL made stained glass crescent moons bc M's nursery is a loose stars & moon theme. My friend also made little onesie cutouts for people to leave words of wisdom for me and hung it off a branch tree.

My friends did a taped interview with DH, asking him questions, and I had to guess what his answers would be. Things like, what profession do you want LO to be when he grows up, what names were on your list that were vetoed, etc. It was really funny, and also very sweet--some of his answers made me cry. They also did a onesie decorating activity which was really fun.

@artbee: @hilsy85: I like the question game! Cute! Except for ours, it'd have to be all about DS because my pregnancy was pretty uneventful, fortunately. No morning sickness, no cravings, etc. Ha!

At the last shower I was at, we all wrote words of encouragement, advice, and cute little notes on the rears of disposable diapers. That way mama can read them during late night diaper changes

@Alivoo01: ha mine too! One of the questions was" What has she been craving" and the only thing he could answer was pickles, because it was like an inside joke (all pregnant women crave pickles, right?!).

@Hilsy85: Love it! I've been in touch with her husband and will be doing this. This is the kind of thing I've been looking for--something that is easy, but makes the mom-to-be feel extra special.
I might tie a balloon around her chair for where she'll be opening presents...I thought about getting her a sash or a corsage, but she's pretty fashionable and I think those would just mess with her outfit! Some suggestions on the world wide web were laughable, like "massage her shoulders" and "help her out of her chair."

I loved when everyone wrote down their guess of name, weight, and birth date. It was fun hearing their quesses on name since we kept it a secret. After she was born, I went over the dates and weight too see who was right

@Happygal: it seriously was the most amazing/fun surprise...I had NO idea they were doing it, so when DH popped up on the tv/video, I was SHOCKED.

@Happygal: No one guessed the name right at that shower. But three people got the date and one was right on with the weight and then a couple with the length. My family is big on bragging rights

@Happygal: I didn't keep the paper that had the questions, I thought about it but I figured the only baby shower I will throw is my sister's and she isn't a game person. Here are some that I remember though. I think there were 16 questions.
How many diapers does a newborn go through each day?
If the Dad had his choice, what would the baby's name be?
What was your most embarrassing pregnancy moment?
How many kids does the Dad want?
Who was the first person you told that you were pregnant, other then the daddy to be?
What is the daddy to be most excited about when the baby comes?

@Happygal: if the father to be is going to be there or come for part of it, I'd suggest this fun game that my hostesses planned for us. DH and I were made to race each other in diapering and completely dressing and swaddling a baby doll. Needless to say DH was clueless (although he's awesome at it now!) and that was so entertaining for our guests. My brother recorded it and I crack up every time I watch it. Also there was a second game where we both were blindfolded and had to reach into a diaper box for baby related items (bib, pacifier, bottle washer) etc. and we had to guess what each thing was. Again, more hilarity on the part of DH. He was doing so badly they allowed him to take off his blindfold! But he was a great sport and it made for a fun shower. (b/t/w we had a co-ed shower and all the guys said they didn't expect to, but had a lot of fun because of the unexpected games.) Sorry if this doesn't apply to your party, but maybe you can get the husband to come and then ambush him!) ha ha...

@Photo Book Girl: Ours will be co-ed and one of the baby showers we went to they had girl games and guy games. One of the guy games was they poured each guy a few cups of beer and they had to guess which brand/label it was.

@Alivoo01: that's a great game idea for the guys! We had a similar one where you guess what kind of candy bar is in the chocolate/poopie diaper. (gross, but funny...) our guests were all into the games so it went over well.

@Mrs. Wagon: I'll look into it! I'm glad you liked wearing yours. I would totally be into wearing a floral wreath, but that's the hippie in me coming out.
I did email the dad-to-be some questions and he wrote back right away. I hope it will be a nice touch. We didn't do a video b/c she's not big into surprises, and that might be too much for her!
Thanks for all the ideas. It's going to be a laid back affair, but I do want to the mom to feel special.
