I know you are unsure about using another R name but Ruby would be so cute! I also really liked Roxanne with the nickname Roxy but my husband hated it. I think it's adorable. Hmm, other names that make me think spunky are Jemma, Freya, Ivy, Daphne, or Beatrix.

@anonysquire: that's the name of the beach we grew up going to!
@Mrs. J: emery and wren are the daughters of a good friend! love harlowe, but it seems too trendy for some reason?
@rattles: i LOVE greer, but DH said it sounds like gruyere (the cheese). crushed.
@Mrs. Monkey: rooney is way cute, but i don't think i can do the double R!

I think my favorite from your list is Hazel. Elodie is also very pretty. It occurred to me that it's similar to Eloise, but I'm not sure that matters. My uncle's first name is actually exactly the same as my other uncle's middle name -- guess my grandparents decided they really liked it!
To add some names I like that seem similar:
Quinn, Hadley (my friend just named her baby this and I love it!), Sadie, Iris (those last two feel similar to Hazel), Cleo, Ivy, Ruby
As an aside -- I love the name Rowan! It's at the top of our girl list

Congratulations!!!
I love love love Sloane with your Rowan's name. I think it goes together without being too matchy bc of the O's in both names. I also just love the name Sloane.
Arden is another favorite name of mine. If we were to have another daughter I would've totally named her that, haha!

When I think of spunky (or feisty!),
I think of heroines in classic girl books, like Pippi and Harriet. Also Penny would sound good with Rowan! And pennies are red-ish.

I love all your current ideas.
I also love Pepper, Pippi, Della, Stella, and Dax for sassy girl names.
Also cute and fit with your red theme are: Scarlet, Terra, Carmine, Cerise, Magenta, and Coral. I could definitely see a few of those complimenting a Rowan.
