I need to sign up DS for a swim session but N was just born this week. The last swim session of the summer starts Monday. I'm worried about taking her there and letting her breathe in chemicals. It's a new, well ventilated indoor pool though. DH goes back to work the middle of next week so I would have to take the three LO's there myself.

I'd never even thought about it, but we took E to C's swim lesson at less than a week old (indoor pool also). He did just fine all snuggled up in the Ergo with me.

I think it'll be ok since it's well ventilated. I probably wouldn't feel up to it myself but if you do I think it's ok!

I probably wouldn't, and i had my preemie out daily from the time we went home from the hospital so i wasn't one to keep him contained. The chemicals at indoor pools always make me feel sick...i would worry about the teeny lungs. I would check with your ped though. In my experience they tend to err on the side of caution and they wont say its ok if its not.

I would t. I really wanted DS in swim lessons this summer but they make you get in the pool, which I couldn't do with a small child anyway-and didn't want to be around the chemicals.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: it's not but I think the Y has winter swim lessons in the evening. We could always wait to do that?
I've never actually seen a baby at the pool we go to so that should probably tell me something haha. I'll probably see if my mom can take him instead.

D had swimming lessons when M was 8-12 weeks. Are you sure the pool has chemicals? The indoor pool we went to was cleaned by UV light.

i would avoid it. are any of his friends going? could you get him ready and have him go with his friend & have that parent watch them? most of the lit. out there on the topic are on infants who went swimming in the chlorinated pool, but i think if the class is an ongoing thing, the frequency of exposure would be enough for me to want to avoid it

Is there waiting room outside of the pool area? Or do you sit on the pool deck? If there is closed in outside waiting room, k don't see why you couldn't bring N.

I wouldn't for air quality reasons but also bc that's a ton of kids to juggle at the pool!
