@Cherrybee: Oh no! Don't let others blog posts worry you! Mrs Hopscotch's monthly updates used to do that to me. Her LO is a month older than mine and it would worry the snot out of me. I know my LO is right on target and has no issues, but it still stressed me. It was even little things like she can say the abc's and my LO can't.

Don't worry, your LO will be fine. There is a huge gap in normal timelines for things like this!

This sounded like p at that age. He wasn't crawling, barely pulling up etc... And he turned out fine. I was really worried too And wrote some HB threads on it and he turned out completely caught up to everyone else. He did it on his own time. He started crawling at 10.5 months and walkrdnaround 14.5 months... 22 months now and is walking on top of couches (lord help me). I promise your e will be doing the same soon.

10 months is still young, give it another month or two and see what happens. All kids go at different pace and she obviously has the upper body strength to push up so I think that's a really good sign!

@Cherrybee: How cute is she?? That looks exactly like what M used to do. I bet she'll be crawling before you know it!

@Cherrybee: I know it's hard not to stress, but my LO still isn't crawling either and she's a week 1/2 older than your LO. She belly crawls and has been for a couple of months--but still doesn't really get up on her knees.

She doesn't sit up from a laying down position, and she *just* pulled up for the first time about 4 days ago and hasn't done it since (she's been trying again, but she gets frustrated and then gives up).

She was late to sitting up unassisted without being really floppy (did it right at 7 months when other babies were doing it at 4 months).

I worry sometimes too, but I think she's just a little late to all of the milestone. So far, our doctor isn't worried--her fine motor skills are great--she's been able to pick up small finger foods using the pincer grasp since 7 months and plays with toys with both hands, is good at mimicking motions (like, she'll give us a high five and clap and drum on the table if we do it).

But I know it's hard to see younger babies doing things that our babies aren't doing!

Mine is 10 months and sounds exactly the same. She has only ever rolled twice maybe? Doesn't crawl, doesn't scoot, doesn't stand unassisted, won't even stand holding on to something unless that something is my fingers. Can't move from lying to sitting, or sitting to standing. Some lady in a store the other day described her as "delayed". Although really active babies do undo me a little bit from time to time, I try to focus on her areas of development that are working - like her wicked fine motor, and think that gross motor skills just aren't her bag right now. But yeah, it's sort of challenging to have a non-mover!

@Cherrybee: Another thought, I wonder if it would help if you literally lay on the ground as well and show her how to crawl? Just literally show her, see, use your arm and scoot yourself forward, see? And then try to position her arm in position and help her to see how she should move her arm to get herself forward? Seeing the video I think maybe she thinks if she swings her arms and feet fast enough she would move lol. But regardless, I think she is very close.

Another thought is, my son started "spinning around" (like a clock on the floor) before he start crawling, so he focuses on one arm first. So I wonder if you could help her understand that she can focus on using one of her arms first to have some kind of mobility.

Sorry you are so worried! I hope it happens soon - and then you'd be worrying she's crawling off of the bed or something

@Cherrybee: Oh you should definitely try bare knee and bare foot time like @Foodnerd81: suggested. M was able to get on all fours and crawl much easier when she was in just a short-sleeve onesie. It also took about a week of crawling before she could crawl on our laminate floors...carpet and rug were much better for her while learning.

Another anecdote for you, one of the wee babes in my coffee group was a late crawler and walker but he too had the most amazing fine motor skills!

Ahh this gives me hope!! Ella does the exact same thing; air swimming and all. She pushes up with her arms but can't figure out what to do with her legs. Elliott is so very cute

I missed this yesterday, but go E!! She is so cute!! C isn't crawling yet, maybe I should get him a rocking horse!

Was about to write a long thing of support...but wow, that happened fast, she's doing it! Congrats, mama!

But I did just want to say to any of the other moms worrying about this who are like, "Oh crap, now her baby is doing it too?! Mine's older and still not crawling!" After months of frustration about it and whining and fussing, my LO started crawling just before his 1st birthday...and within a week he is now all over the place moving at lightening speed! They'll get their, they just each have their own different timeline
