I've heard some dr/nurses use the same pronoun all the time or use the baby from before. Did yours do that or ever slip on gender (and were they right/wrong)?

My Dr ALWAYS used the pronoun from his previous appointment, so he was right 50% of the time . He was always very quick to say I don't actually know and it's just what the previous baby was. They don't even put it in the file if you're team green, so the US tech was the only person I would remind

They did with my cousin's 1st born! He and his wife were going to be "Team Green;" however, the tech slipped at the end of scan when they were about to leave. The tech was speaking to the nurse as they were heading out and she said something to the affect of, "You should see the ultrasound photos of their son. He is already so photogenic! It was as though he was posing!" The tech was fairly loud and my cousin was close enough to hear. When she looked over and met his gaze, she realized her mistake and couldn't apologize enough. Ooops!

Yes we were team green with our first and DW had PPROM so we needed an emergency ultrasound. The tech asked if we knew the gender and we said no and didn’t want to know. She said ‘ok so look away now because it’s VERY obvious!’ so we took that to mean obviously a boy. We had another ultrasound later that day or the next and asked the tech to tell us and sure enough, boy. At that point it was just a relief he was going to be ok and we didn’t care and were excited but looking back I’m still a little annoyed we waited 35 weeks to have it ruined instead of the moment during the birth we thought we would get! We found our with our second son at 20 weeks.

@Sams Mom: I wonder if it’s documented somewhere because I had genetic testing done though? The two slips have also been on ultrasound days.

@LindsayInNY: oooo, I didn't have nipt done, so I don't know about that. I had like 12-14 US in my pregnancy though, so I was just hyper diligent, and I had the same tech the last 8 or so times and she'd turn off the big screen if she had to get around the genital area.

@LindsayInNY: a friend that is currently pregnant said her insurance covers nipt, but no gender testing without an extra fee 🤷♀️ but they probably told you if they were finding out gender too,I would assume.

@Sams Mom: They did gender and I said we didn't want to know. I'm probably over reading into things

@LindsayInNY: I'm guessing it's been the same gender in both slip ups?
If it makes you feel better, I was pretty sure I saw a penis somewhere around 36 weeks, even though I was so sure it was a girl. Cried to my husband that I saw a penis , but was still surprised when my husband told me boy in the OR. 🤷♀️

I didn't find out with my daughter. Most times the dr said lets find baby's heartbeat or lets find the hearbeat. I believe I heard a "he" ones that had me determined it was a boy, but like others had said it wasn't even on the chart.

@Sams Mom: Haha, it has been. Which is NOT what I *thought* I saw at the anatomy scan. And I have zero intuition! I'm past due date so I guess we'll know soon enough.

@LindsayInNY: you need to start dancing (baby and otherwise), eat some spicy food, and bounce on a yoga ball
Get that baby moving!

@LindsayInNY: Totally went and dug through your mom board, and based on the picture with your little girl, I'm going to guess it's a boy.

No slips for us!
I don’t even think the Dr knew. She wasn’t in the Ultrasound (just the tech) and one of the high risk Drs looked at the images. I guess that’s just normal in their practice (I wasn’t high-risk).
At one point near the end I asked her if she knew. She said she did not. She said she could maybe dig through my chart to find it but it wasn’t readily available. She did ask near the end if we wanted to circumcise if it was a boy. That made me think she knew it was a boy, but maybe she just asks everyone that who’s team green?

@Sams Mom: Got buffalo tenders Friday night, Chinese last night... Walking a lot (+ 4th floor walk up at home)... Baby is head down, locked in place, mostly effaced. Just taking his or her sweet time now!!

DH was convinced that they listed LO as a girl on the screen at our last ultrasound, but I told him that it said "female" because *I* am a female. No telling whether I was right.

@LindsayInNY: Yes, it's definitely documented on the NIPT report. They probably weren't scrutinizing the sex part but it's definitely there so to speak. My midwife was like, yep we looked and your risk factors are low do you want to know the sex?
Have you tried eggplant parmesan?!?

Looking back with DS1 I maybe should have guessed. My OB said something along the lines of wanting to send me for an u/s later in the pregnancy to check the kidneys as they measured large and some issue this could cause that was most common in boys. But I didn’t even realize what he said at the time and was pleasantly surprised.
DS2 we found out at the 20 week mark. But because DH couldn’t be with me the tech was good at keeping it from me.

@LindsayInNY: Did you tell your doctor before they drew the blood for NIPT you didn't want to know? We waited to find out at the anatomy scan (our compromise as I didn't want to know and my husband did), and didn't want a slip-up before then. As a result, my doctor actually checked a box when he put in the NIPT paperwork that said "Does not want to know sex of baby." They didn't even test for it in the lab. And then when he called to tell me the results were good, he even went as far as to say "I know you didn't want to know the sex of the baby, and I made sure it's nowhere on the paperwork so you're safe to look at the results yourself." I really appreciated it!
Sending lots of good vibes as you wait for your rainbow to make his or her arrival!

I was TG with my first and my OB never slipped but I also reminded him a million times. He said at one point “i’m going to use male pronouns but that doesn’t mean anything.”

I was team green with my first and no slip ups. Near the end my midwife asked if we had thought about circumcision of t was a boy, and since I already was convinced it was a boy I thought that confirmed it. No, she was a girl! I don’t think my midwives knew- I’m sure the ultrasound tech could tell and the doctor who read those scans, but I believe they just a report to the midwives who I saw most of the time.
I have a lot of friends who were team green and only know of one friend of a friend who had the surprise spoiled.
Good luck! I hope you have this baby and find out very soon!!

We were team green both times. With my son I was convinced that I saw them mark an ovary on the ultrasound so I was worried that I had actually seen that he was a girl. But actually they were just marking mine and in fact he was a boy. Second time around I had some issues towards the end that required additional ultrasounds. The first time around 33 weeks I thought that the ultrasound tech was slipping up to tell me that she was a boy because she seemed concerned that I would have two boys and I might not ever have a girl based on how she was talking about Her own children and family. At the very end right before I was induced one of the OBs started using female pronouns but then realized that she slipped up and said that she calls all babies girls because she’s tired of all the obs using male pronouns as gender-neutral pronouns. She had a good cover story but I think she had actually just slipped up a little bit as she did in fact turn out to be a girl. All the times I never really felt like I knew, though!

@dc yoga bee: @LindsayInNY: anecdotal and stupid but I tried eggplant parm at 40+1, was in labor 10 hours later

Geez reading about all these slip ups and cover ups makes me nervous! We are TG now and so far, no slips but we're only 15 weeks. Before the start of our ultrasound, the tech says she refers to all babies as he.

@LCTBQE: Our local restaurant is famous for inducing labor with theirs! My SIl just tried it and unfortunately it didn’t work for her but I know it has for lots of other women!

We've been team green twice and no one gave us any hints. The ultrasound tech just said, 'look away now if you don't want to know', and the doctor just alternated pronouns or called it 'the baby'.
I'll be going team green for the next kid too because I get such a kick out of annoying my family
