Maybe I’m biased because I’ve only ever been team green, but I think it’s great! I always enjoyed trying to predict (my hunch was correct with 2 out of my 3), and other people loved guessing too. In the delivery room, even the nurses got excited, and with our last baby one of our nurses wrote down her prediction on the board in the room before she left during shift change. It made for a really fun atmosphere, and it was always super motivating during labor. My husband announced the sex of the baby, and it was always such a cool moment!

We were team green with our first and it was really good. To me then it didn’t make a difference. We found out for the second and it was pretty special too. Now for #3 we will most likely find out again. We have time to decide and I know DH wants to know.

I was Team Green with my first (DD1) but found out with #2 (DD2) and #3 (DS). My reasoning was - I have girl stuff around, do I need boy stuff? But it would've been fine either way, and if I had one of each I might've gone Team Green again.

We were team green with our first LO, and are team green with my current pregnancy. DH would have gone either way, but I firmly did not want to find out for two main reasons:
*I figured that if there was going to be any gender disappointment, it would be overshadowed by the exhilaration of the birth. (100% true)
*I am super irritated by gender stereotypes, the idea of "boy colors" and "girl colors", etc., so I wanted to avoid running into that for as long as possible.

I said that I would only consider finding out this time if DD (almost 6) was super attached to the idea of having a sister (in case we needed time to prepare her for a brother). She's been super flexible, however, and even though she currently expresses a preference for a brother, she will quickly follow that up with "but we don't get to pick!"

I have 3 girls, and we were team green every time. For the first two, it was amazing. The first time, I didn't care either way if we got a boy or girl, so we were happily surprised. The second time I didn't care either - I thought it would be fun to have one of each, or it would be really fun to have sisters, and we knew we'd have another one so I still had a chance at a boy either way. So we were happily surprised with our second girl. The third time, we knew it would be our last baby and we already had two sisters, so I very very very strongly wanted a boy. We got another girl. Of course I absolutely love her to pieces and it's so fun having 3 little girls, 3 sisters. But I really really struggled with that disappointment and the "loss" of never having a boy for a Long. Time. Like months.

So I think that if you want it one way or the other, find out. I wish I had with the third one. I think it would've helped me to process it before she was here. If I had another one I would find out as soon as possible (not happening, DH says 10000000% no lol).

My husband had a strong gender preference the first time, so we found out early so that he'd have time to process if he didn't get his preference. And he did not get his preference, so I'm glad I did not have to process his disappointment at the birth.

The second time, it was identical twins. Since I already had a boy, I had a strong preference for girls, and so we found out for the inverse reason. (The twins are girls.)

@foodiebee: was team green for my twins h loved it! Same reasons as you.....so little left in life is truly a surprise.....and to avoid excessively gender stereotyped stuff

For what it's worth, if you feel like you will deal with any sort of disappointment, I would find out. One of my best friends dealt with some huge disappointment with her 3rd and 4th being boys (I don't judge, it happens to the best of us) and it definitely helped her to know in advance so she could love on those babies when they were born.

We intended to find out ASAP with both of our kids...but I didn't realize until after finding out about girl #2 just how much my husband was hoping for a boy that time around. I was glad we had time to process that ahead of time.

@bees_knees: I was never team green, but I have a boy, girl, boy…. And boy.

I was really hoping no.4 would be a girl so my daughter could have a sister. I definitely mourned for a good number of weeks after finding out it was a boy.

It was my first time experiencing gender disappointment and was surprised at how much it affected me.

I didn’t share with too many people because I know many people don’t even have one of their preferred gender. At least I had one girl, right.

And of course I must mention how much I adore my sweet little boy now who is 14 months now 🥰.

@bees_knees: I remember not sharing with anyone for a couple of weeks.. I didn’t want to talk about it at all. I actually wouldn’t mind having all boys, but I mourned my little girl not having a sister since I’m so close to my own sister!

@bees_knees: I’m sorry. I totally understand why you’re sad about your little girl not having a sister. ️
