I told at ~12 weeks. He just said "I figured. I hope you're happy". LOL??

Around 13 weeks. I told HR before my boss. They were both very happy for me and it went better than I expected.

Also around 13 weeks - he was happy for me and immediately asked me if I was going to be a SAHM which I thought was weird and then he said his wife quit once she got preg

I was 8 weeks. I didn't intend on telling him then, but we were out celebrating a girl leaving, and he figured it out when I didn't do a tequila shot...

16 weeks the first time. My VP thanked me for planning it around our busy season but never actually said congrats. She's awkward like that. My supervisor was better than I thought she would be. Neither women have children so I was super nervous. This next one is not planned around our busy season, in fact due right in the middle. So I will be interested to see what the reaction is. I am waiting at least until after reviews at the end of this month (will be 14/15 weeks).

I was pregnant when I got hired at my last job. I actually started working at around 32 weeks!
This time I'm thinking I will announce at 11 weeks. It's getting obvious and I'm tired of hiding it! That's next week for me.. kind of nervous about it

I told my boss pretty early on, like 6-8 weeks! I happened to have my annual review, and my boss asked me if I was really unhappy with my job or with him even b/c I mus have this look of misery on my face... So I had to tell him I have my misery face on b/c I'm pregnant! He took it very well and was very happy for me (and relieved that I don't hate my job lol).

I have a great relationship with my boss. I told him early (first time at about 5 weeks and this time at about 8 weeks). Heck, I'm 27 weeks now and still haven't officially told HR. I'm sure they suspect with the way I have questioned some recent policy changes.

15 weeks the first time. He was just really excited for me (he thought I was going to quit because I asked to meet with him and then closed the door to his office) and talked about his kids and just was really supportive.
I was only 8-10 weeks the second time and I told him early because I needed some advice about my job, but again, he was just really excited for me and supportive.

15 weeks. I was nervous since I had moved under his group 4 weeks before, but he was great about it.

@yellowbird: that must have been nerve wracking starting a new job when pregnant! I have a friend who just found out she's PG and she just started a new job last week!

After my NT scan both times. So right around 13 weeks. He has three kids of his own and was really excited for me.

I'm terrified to tell my boss if/when the time comes around for me! He doesn't like kids and even made a comment last week that if someone on his team was pregnant he would fire them. Sure made me great..

@alohaorchid: woooooooooooooow, fairly certain that's illegal.
i think i'm going to wait until 12 weeks if i can. we have reviews coming up and i might tell her in that because she doesn't have an office and i don't want everyone else to know. i've been super sick though so i might need to tell her earlier so she is more understanding.

@loki: Yes and no. You can't terminate someone for being pregnant, but there would be nothing stopping him from doing for another reason. As long as there is the appropriate payout, they do whatever they want. Not that I agree with it at all, people like him are the main reason I'm in HR! I strive to make everything fair and legal for everyone.

@alohaorchid: but if he has already said he would fire someone, wouldn't have that a bit of weight? that is disgusting, he sounds lovely : /

Last time I told him early, I had awful MS and was running to the bathroom several times a day to get sick, I figured I better fess up.
I haven't told him yet this time, although I'm sure he's figured it out. I'm worried since one of the other girls in my department is due 3 months before me, she will return to work from maternity leave the week I leave for mine...that's 6 months with a 2 person departments instead of a 3...he's probably not going to be thrilled.

I had to tell my boss on the fly last time, because he scheduled a meeting with me and proposed I head up a new literacy program over the summer--so I had to tell him right then that I would be having a baby over the summer instead. He was super nice about it, and really really nice about it my whole pregnancy (letting me leave early for appointments without docking time, etc).
Buuuutttt.....now I have a new boss and he's much more of a rule follower, so I know he won't be letting me leave early without docking time and I'm generally nervous about telling him. =/

I told my boss when I was around 14 weeks. He was going on vacation for a month, and I was leaving for 3 weeks of vacation before he got back, so I was sure he would notice my growing belly after we were both back. He was really supportive, he already had 4 kids of his own!

@Anagram: I had a similar experience - I was asked to take over a bunch of things from someone who quit - and I had to tell them that maybe we should hire someone to replace her sooner rather than later because I'd be on mat leave. I think I was 10 weeks at that point.

I had the same conversation twice, once with my manager and once with my company's co-CEOs. In both cases, I said I had some news and they said, "I hope you're not leaving." I said, "Only temporarily." They caught on immediately and were very nice about it and happy for me.
My manager has a toddler and another baby on the way, and his wife works. The CEOs each have three kids, though their wives are SAHMs. They were all very understanding about the whole thing.

I told mine after my 12 week appointment. We had gotten a good health report and I felt like my belly was starting to pop so it seemed like a good time to tell. I had a coworker who got called out for being pregnant by our well meaning but gossipy receptionist at 7 weeks with her second baby so I'm not sure if I can make to 12 weeks next time!

Around 7 weeks. I didn't want to tell that early but I had a bunch of appointments from the get-go and my old job used to be horrible about doctor's appointments/leaving early. Like if we were short-staffed they'd try to get you to cancel them, guilt you into staying late, etc. I didn't want the stress and just spilled the beans.
The sales manager hugged me! He was such a hard ass I definitely did not expect that!

I told my boss at like 7 weeks with my oldest. I hadn't even told my parents at that point! I wanted her to know early because I had a very physical job with heavy lifting and potentially hazardous materials, and there was some stuff I couldn't do any more. She was very happy for me!
If you were announcing a second pregnancy, did you tell sooner or later? I'm more nervous this time, because now I know just how much it's going to affect my work for the first year. I wish I had some plan to do better this time, but I haven't come up with one yet.

Told my VP at 21 weeks this time. She told me I screwed up and I was making more work for others in the department.

Around 14 weeks. I work at two different schools, and both reactions were very positive!

I told my boss at 7 weeks because I needed to get coverage for some of my duties. I really should have told earlier than that since I had to preform those duties at 5 weeks but I wasn't ready to tell. This is my second pregnancy under this boss so I wasn't as nervous. He eeked out "Congratulations." I wasn't expecting much since he doesn't have kids and has been very vocal that he is not interested in family lives at all.
Then, just a few weeks ago my boss mentioned he and his wife had two ectopic pregnancies and a failed round of IVF. My guess is that this was 10+ years ago but I'm sure it's not something you get over. You really never know what someone is thinking.

Just before 8 weeks. We're in a really small office, and it was getting hard explaining why I was sick week after week. My job also involves vulnerable young children and families, so my boss would absolutely understand if something happened, and the whole office would be supportive. My boss actually cried a little, she was so excited.

Ugh I was going to tell my boss very soon and a co-worker just told me that she booked a vacation with her coming back one day after my due date. Ugh, I don't want my boss to try and make my co-worker cancel. Co-worker doesn't know I'm PG. Boss has approved co-workers vacay and I think co-worker is booking the trip tonight. Due dates are somewhat random but at 41 almost 42 I don't think they will let me go over.

I told my boss pretty early, around 9 weeks. I had to go for a few appointments in a week, and it was the 2nd week of school (I'm a high school teacher). I didn't want him to think I was really flakey, leaving for a couple days so soon into the school year, so I told him I was pregnant and had some issues I need to resolve. He has 3 kids himself and was really excited for me and really supportive. I told my co-workers at 12 weeks.

I told my boss pretty early at 8 weeks, but he already knew we were going through fertility treatments (I needed time off for appointments) so he was very happy for us. He actually high fived me and that was kind of awkward. Plus I had horrible morning sickness and we were getting into our busy time so he needed to know why it was taking me so long to get things done.

Waiting until after my next u/s on Wednesday to tell my boss and team, I will be 13 weeks. I am ready for everyone to know plus they need to hire another supervisor and it needs to be a priority before I take maternity leave.
