When you told friends, co-workers and acquaintances that you were expecting, what was the first thing (beyond congratulations) that people said to you?
For me it has been, without fail, "Are you going to find out the sex?"

Most people asked how far along I was or asked if we knew the sex. My MIL said “you guys have to buy a bigger house because I have a lot of stuff to buy for this baby!”
So far, everyone has been *really* excited, which has been nice!!

A lot of people asked "are you excited?" and of course everybody asks "do you know/will you find out the sex?"

I got a lot of "What's the sex?" And of course I was way too early to know. I found it really weird when dad's asked me this. They should know you can't find out yet!

We got a lot of "how far along are you?" and "do you want a girl or boy?" reactions.

Most people we've been able to tell that I'm pg, and it's twins, at the same time, so usually it's been a little roller coaster that goes something like "oh congrats!.....wow, holy crap.....goooood luck" and then my husband begs for their hand me downs

I work in a small, close-knit group at work. I told my work supervisor and program manager at the same time and asked to speak with them together. They both gave a sigh of relief that I wasn't quitting, then (nicely) commented about me not taking too long of a maternity leave.
Everyone else asked about when I was due and if we were going to find out the gender.

If they were British "Are you going to go back to the US to have the baby?" Uh no. We live here. Also, we couldn't afford to have a baby in the US. I think they forget and take the NHS for granted!

Either "wow that was fast" since we just got married in September or do you know what you are having yet?
grapefruit / 4400 posts
Mostly questions about the sex and "Are you excited?" which is a really weird question.

The usual, "When are you due?" and "Is it a boy or a girl?" questions were fine... I got a few "Was this planned?" and "Were you trying?" comments too... Those were annoying.

."no way....already?!" Haha. We started trying and were pregnant in lessbthan a month so people were excited.

I got the "already?" since we got pregnant on our honeymoon, and then we got "do you have any names picked out?"
