tomorrow is the big day! we're going to find out if photobaby is a boy or girl, and we're so excited. i'm a little nervous, though, since baby did not cooperate at all during the nt scan at 12 weeks. we actually didn't even get a measurement because lazy baby just wanted to lay there and sleep. does anyone have any suggestions for a successful u/s? we want to make sure baby gives us a good toilet shot! i don't think i can wait any longer to find out!

i was told to drink a bottle of water and hold it in an hour before our u/s! apparently drinking oj can get the baby going too? (that's what our 4d tech told us)
for our anatomy scan at 19 wks and at our fun 4d scan at 29 wks, both techs used their lil scanner to poke at my belly a bit and he shifted into view

I woul always get orange juice and a donut on my way there to make sure the baby wa really active, but even when thebaby is active there are no guarantees that the baby will get into the right positions. I had to have my anatomy scan done twice because of this. Wishing you all the best

My friend was advised by her ultrasound tech cousin to drink OJ before, and if they're still not cooperating, ask if you can get up and pee and come back. Supposedly that usually does the trick.

A little bit of caffiene can help too.

People always told me to drink a little clear soda before the appt. Our baby has always cooperated going off of that advice!

I drank OJ before and that worked great for us. My friend no joke went into the bathroom and did jumping jacks to move baby to get the money shot! And it worked!

Drink plenty of water, and having something sweet about half an hour before is always helpful!

We were team green but I joked with the ultrasound tech about people telling me to drink soda or juice to get the baby moving. But she told me that sometimes makes the baby too active and while they can usually find out the gender they also ended up with blurry pictures which isn't great for the radiologist to check the anatomy. They can usually get the baby to move pretty easily by having you shift your position or poking it with the ultrasound wand.

I was told caffeine could cloud the fluid, but we were team green, so we never needed the money shot.

My advice is opposite everyone else's....don't drink the OJ or do anything special and you'll get to go twice.
I love seeing our little girl, so every uncooperative ultrasound results in another opportunity to see her. -
@oliviaoblivia: haha... I totally would love to see baby again, but since our deductible is $5000 it would be really nice to get it done in one shot. Those suckers are expensive!

Im headed to the store now, and I think I'll go ahead and get some oj. I don't think we'll have the problem of a too-active baby... he or she is so lazy during the day! If I could my u/s at bedtime I think we'd have more success.

Definitely make sure to eat an hour or so before your appt - while our LO showed the goods during the 20 week ultrasound, I had to come back a couple weeks later because they couldn't get clear pictures of his stomach and some other organs. They said it was because I didn't eat enough beforehand. So make sure to snack all day - I remember eating a big lunch and then snacking on trail mix on the drive over to my doctor's office.

@Alivoo01: haha yeah her daughter had her legs crossed and she was so scared they woudln't find out, so she went to the bathroom and did like 10 jumping jack's, and it worked! Baby had uncrossed her legs!

I had to have my anatomy scan done twice (the first visit was 2.5 hours) because liv wouldnt cooperate at all. They had DH gog et me a coke, that didnt work. I tried OJ, ice, warm tea, a snickers, I even went to the bathroom and did a handstand (I was a cheerleader and a gymnast so it wasnt too risky lol) and that didnt even work. Finally, about 2 hours in, she gave them two money shots for a moment, and thats how we found out. Uncooperative little bugger =o)

thanks for the tips everyone! i had some kool-aid before the appointment and it worked -- SHE was super wiggly, which was so fun to see. she even waved to mama and daddy!
