Yes I got the flu shot while pregnant... First time I've gotten it. I was more worried about getting sick while pregnant than any side effects that the shot would cause.

I did not get it.

I'm starting TTC shortly and didn't get a flu shot so now I'm wondering if I should!

I got it but found a place that gave a thimerosal free version. I believe it was a Passport Health place, I think they are all over the place. My Dr said the complications from getting the flu could be worse. Not to freak you out, but a high school friend of mine just had a baby a few weeks ago and her DD had severe brain problems and she ended up passing away a week ago. The Drs said it could have been caused by a virus or time when the mom got a high fever and it stopped the baby's brain development.

I stressed about the decision as well but ended up getting one because of the risks with getting the flu, I was pregnant over flu season and worked in childcare. Getting a thimerosal free (mercury free) version made me feel a lot better.

I got the non-mercury version. I've also never had the flu and decided to get it this time.

My doctor was very insistent. She is very, very laid back about a lot of things, so when she says, "this is important and you need this", I really listen. Also, my nurse practitioner said she never had the flu until she was pregnant and said it was MISERABLE and said please get the shot.

Fevers are very dangerous if you are pregnant. Raised body temperatures are bad for the fetus.

Yes, it was the first time I had gotten it in years, and I did so on my doctor's recommendation.

Technically, I got it a few days before I conceived, but I would have gotten it while pregnant. Everything I've read about the risks of getting the flu while pregnant sounds much scarier than any minimal risk of the shot itself. I didn't bother asking about the preservative free version, though, since I wasn't actually pregnant yet.

ETA: Also, I usually get it every year since work gives it out free, and I've never had a bad reaction to it. I only actually got the flu once and it was seriously awful. I thought I'd had the flu before, but when I got the real deal it was nothing like the bugs I called the flu.

I've never had the flu shot before and didnt want to take it for the first time while pregnant. So no.

I'm all for the flu shot, I say get it. I used to get the flu 3 times a year. Since getting the flu shot I have yet to get it (knock on wood). I think it's worth it!

i had never gotten a flu shot in my life, but my OB was adamant that i get one while pregnant. She used some scare tactics to convince me - saying I could end up in the hospital with pneumonia or something worse - so I went with it. Luckily I did not get sick! And they did give me a mercury-free shot.

I know I talked about this a bit on the June boards, but after I thought about it, I decided not to get the flu shot.

We sell a homeopathic flu remedy at the medical office where I work and it is safe during pregnancy so I am taking a dose every week to help keep the flu away!

If I am around sick people, I may take it more often.

I got it. I work with sick individuals on a daily basis, so I wasn't willing to take the risk. I actually get it every year (provided by my employer) ever since the year I didn't get it, got the flu, and felt like absolute death for a full week.

I tend to be pretty crunchy granola about a LOT of things, but I am very pro-vaccinations.

While I think people are welcome to come to their own conclusions on most things, I would be VERY wary of anything you read that draws a link between vaccinations and autism. The "study" that indicated this has been debunked over and over again and the "scientist" who conducted it has admitted to faking the results.

I never get the flu shot. I'm pregnant now and opted out this year, too.

Personally, I don't trust anything the CDC says. Scare tactics and propaganda.

I just got my first flu, ever. I was literally in bed incapacitated for 4 days, really sick for 4 more, and then fatigued and low energy for another week. If I didn't have a lot of help, I can't imagine what might have happened.

I will never miss another flu shot as long as I live.

I got the preservative free version while I was KU last year, and the regular version this year. I get it every single year, I believe the benefits of having it far outweigh any risks.
