I am sure that many people deal with this both on the pregnancy front and the parenting front. Feel free to weigh in from either side!

It's crazy how when you go past your due date (or come extremely close to it), everyone thinks they're a medical expert! I can't even describe how many times a day I am bombarded with "Have sex. Stimulate your nipples. Drink castor oil. Eat eggplant parmesan. Get accupuncture." Everyone has their own opinion as to what works!

Well, today I got a call from my SIL (who has never had a child) and she told me that she "was talking with an older lady" (is this supposd to be her medical accreditation?) who said that since I have high blood pressure, they are just going to end up giving me a C-section when I get induced, and that if I don't drink castor oil to go into labor naturally, I will end up with a C-section.
Once I said to my SIL that I really didn't want to give myself explosive diarrhea she said "well, do you want explosive diarrhea and a natural birth or a C-section? It's up to you."
Who the hell does this chick think she is? She has no idea what she is talking about....and why would you even say that to someone 1 day before their induction? to freak them out?

Man, I was so upset. It is just crazy to me that people think they are qualified to give advice. I am sure the same is true for parents of LOs....people often have a lot to say about the way you parent.

How do you deal?
