I recently came across this article on NPR and, after a few years of curiosity and research in regards to the pros and cons of vaccines, it really solidified my decision to remain fully inoculated, and offer the same protection to DD.

As an educator in California, I remember the whooping cough epidemic in 2010, and it was awful. I actually came down with H1N1 that same season, and after that horrific experience, completely appreciate the option of receiving a flu shot each year. Now, being the mother of a child too young to receive several seasonal vaccines, I rely on herd immunity more than ever.

What are your thoughts? Do you feel that it is irresponsible not to vaccinate, if you're of age, and able bodied, or do you think it's personal choice, entirely? If you choose not to vaccinate (yourself or your children), what is your position on herd immunity and how do you propose we protect fragile populations who are at risk for complications from certain contagious diseases?
