@looch: I started and got too angry at the stupidity to continue!

ETA: Just want to be clear that I don't think that all anti-vaxxers are stupid. Just the particular crazy people who commented on her post.

@lamariniere: Yeah, me neither... read a few and then I could feel myself get stupider so I stopped. They're even worse than YouTube comments.

@MamaMoose: great link, I especially applaud and agree with this line: "They don't hand out medical degrees for running google searches."

It's great to Google yourself silly to be "informed" (as much as you actually can be completely informed just by looking up what's readily available, and what comes up from your specific search terms without a medical/scientific background on how to interpret stats, graphs, validity of sources, etc.), but let's not pretend that that is on par with spending years and years in school and in practice. It's not apples to apples. The internet gives so many people such a false sense of real education and real understanding.

@yoursilverlining: This is so true about "internet research", I spent so many hours reading about all sorts of issues while I was pregnant, seasonal allergies, carpal tunnel, foods, vitamins etc... worried myself when I should have been sleeping! LOL

@yoursilverlining: Thank you, I totally agree. There seems to be such a mistrust of doctors and the medical field today and I just don't get it. All of my friends who are doctors worked SO hard throughout medical school and really do want to help people. Then I have other friends who start going off on how vaccines are evil and doctors just recommend them because of the big, bad, money-making pharmaceutical companies. I ask them for their "research" and they send me websites that look like they were created by a 12-year-old in 1999 with no actual, credible sources. And that's all of the extensive research they've done. Just mind-boggling.
