We both got flu shots when I was newly pregnant (at my first prenatal in December), and we both got the tDap a few weeks before I delivered. We also both got flu shots when he was 2 or so months old (earliest we could), and all three of us have gotten them this year.

@kjpugs: I just had the same conversation with DH and he said he never gets the flu or the shot so he wasn't inclined to get it now either. I'm definitely getting the flu shot (LO will be born in December.) I know he's unlikely to get the flu this year like any other year, but it still makes me a little nervous if he doesn't get the shot!

I'll ask about the whooping cough booster for both me & DH. If we start TTC during flu season, I'll be getting the flu shot (but I have to anyways being high risk) and try really, really hard to get DH to get it. If we have a winter baby, I'm going to throw down and make him get it, especially by that point, he will be working as a nurse. Most nurses I know are required to get flu shots or they must jump through all kinds of hoops.

Most all the inserts I've read have said that these immunizations are considered class B (most of the available flu vaccines) or C pregnancy drugs (all the dtap and some of the flu vaccines) so nope! I really did all I could to avoid any class B drugs and would only consider a class C if my or my baby's immediate life was in danger.... FWIW Tylenol is also considered a class C pregnancy drug (didn't know that until this last pregnancy).

I won't get them while I'm pregnant because the inserts flat out say they haven't been tested on pregnant women or fetuses, and risks to future fertility is unknown. I'll wait to get my booster once baby is born.

I got both (flu vaccine when I was around 4 months pregnant, tDap a little later I think). DH got both, too. I get the flu shot every year so it's not a big deal to me, but DH only started once I got pregnant.

My OB recommended getting the TDap and Flu shot for both of us so that's what we did! IIRC I got the TDap in my 2nd tri.

I got the Tdap vaccine after delivery, as did my husband. I got the flu shot in my first trimester, as recommended by my OB.

I got the flu the day before I was scheduled to receive my vaccine. It was the sickest I've ever been, and I was afraid I'd loose the baby (17 weeks, and massive dehydration, ended up hospitalized). My husband got the flu shot, and I totally would have, if circumstances would have been different.

I got the tDap a few weeks before I delivered. I had DH and the grandparents do the same.
