Do you have a home office? Do you work somewhere outside of the home but not go to an office? Do you work while your kids are sleeping, or try to get some things done while they are awake? Do you have any childcare? I would love to hear logistics

I only work sporadically (graphic design/illustration) but when I do it is at a small desk in our living room - and I only do it during naps or after LO is in bed. If I have a big project on it can be pretty hard - I don't have childcare but dh is also self employed so sometimes he will take an afternoon so I can hit a deadline. I wouldn't be opposed to doing a little work while LO is around, but I just cannot focus enoufh, even if he's occupied in another room.

I worked FT so I had child care. I had a home office because I needed 3 computer monitors. I would work during naps or after bedtime if LO was sick and couldn't attend daycare.

I only WAH occasionally, but I have a desk with a proper phone and a computer. I can not work with my son home so he goes to his normal day care. I also need to work during business hours to attend calls, so there's only so much I can do outside of business hours.

I have a home office, and the kids go to preschool because it's too hard to get much work done with them around.

i have a home office to run my photography business. i would say in office is part time hours and now my DD (2.5) goes to preschool 2x a week so those are my office days. i had an easy time juggling it when she was a baby and an impossible time juggling it when she was 1-2, so this works way better for us!

I have a home office that doubles as the guest room, so I have to vacate for the occasional times we have someone using the sofabed in there.
My company has an office in Chicago, where I'm based. On days when my parents watch DD for the full day (usually Mondays and Wednesdays), I work from the office. On the other days, I switch off with DH, who also works from home with flexible hours. Then we both work on weekday and weekend evenings, although we try to take at least an hour to watch a TV show together or read in bed.

I'm not a WAHM, however, those that are FT in the same position as me DO work full-time. They have offices set-up in their home, someone from our office has to go out and make sure everything is set up according to standards since we work in health care with a lot of confidential information. They work set hours of 8-4:30, with how busy our positions are, I couldn't imagine that someone working our position from home could do without childcare. There are slower days and slow times, but for the most part we're at our desk the entire 8.5 hours. I'm only part-time so I don't get the luxury of working my job from home - that would be so nice though. It's really not a bad job at all.

Depends what I'm working on - sometimes on the couch, if I'm just reading documents, sometimes at the kitchen table, if I only need one screen, and upstairs in our den/office if I need my big monitor.

I have a home office.
DD is almost 6 months so I try to only work while she's sleeping but I do work sometimes when she's awake. DH WAH as well so it's easy to trade-off. I have a lot of in-client meetings so I can leave her with him while I'm out.
I try not to work weekends at all. I work for myself so it's easy to set my own schedule but I still work at least 25-30 hours a week. I've been making it a priority to do one "Mommy & Me" activity outside the house a day which has been great.

I'm only PT so it's as needed. Usually after they go to bed (hard to do) or on Thursdays they're in daycare.

I work at an office about 45 minutes from home. I can usually be home 1-2 days each week. I don't have an office at home but I will soon. We are buying a bigger house this week. We have all family child care for now. Mostly our parents but my husband only works 4 days. Our sisters fill in when needed. I would like to look into school when he is 2.

I WAH from my home office. Some of my colleagues work from home and some work from one of our offices. It is a FT job and we are required to have childcare whether we work from home or an office. I have a certain degree of flexibility with my hours, but I'm generally expected to be online and available during working hours.

I have a home office/warehouse. I will handle my email correspondence and social media accounts when Brady is awake but I have to wait until he is asleep (or my husband is watching him) to package orders, do inventory, etc. Otherwise, B just throws shirts everywhere.

I just stated WAH (online summer school--fingers crossed it turns into all year!) and I am keeping R in daycare. There is NO way I could work with her at home. I have a home office but depending on what I am doing I work my way around the house. If I do this full time I will need to adjust my computer equipment and get a large desktop screen, an 11" Macbook isn't WAH friendly!

Home office, my mom watches him at her house normally. Sometimes if I have a slow day she'll watch him at our house.

Sometimes home office, sometimes Starbucks by LO's daycare, sometimes another coffee shop by my mom's house (she watches LO 2 days/week).

I do some work out of the home at our shop location, but when I have work I need to do from home, I kind of work anywhere! Not the best set up at all but since I go back and forth working away from home and at home, I have a bag with all of my stuff. I just grab my bag and set up wherever is convenient... Usually the living room or basement. If my kids are awake, I try to work downstairs while they play (ha) or let them have some screen time if it's pressing. Otherwise, I try to squeeze in work during nap times or after bed time. It is definitely a challenge. Sometimes I struggle with feeling constantly torn between work & home and switching back and forth all the time. I need to get better at balancing it all, but it is hard!

I am self-employed and WAH. I have a home office, since I need two large screens in order to work. My two go to daycare as it is nearly impossible to work with them underfoot. I do work when they are sleeping if I have to work over the weekend or at night, which happens a couple of times per week.

I have a homeoffice. Our 2 year old is at daycare and our 5 month is at home with me. I work during her naps and when DH takes her. He is self employed so he has some flexibility in his schedule. Sometimes if I have to finish something that I started while she slept or there is a telephone conference at a certain time etc I work while she is awake.

I work in our home office or occasionally my bedroom if DH is home and needs the office. We have a pt nanny for 30 hours a week. Back when I didn't have as much work I squeezed it in during nap time and after bedtime, and then I often logged hours on the couch.
Sometimes I like to work at Starbucks or wherever because it can be a bit easier to concentrate.
It's hard for me to envision being able to do more than 10 or 15 minutes of real work without help. Maybe if the little one is napping and the big one is watching a show.

I WAH several times a week....from my bed. I have a portable laptop desk that I set up next to me. I'm lazy like that.
As far as childcare, my mom comes over and watches DS while I work. There's no way I could get anything done with him around lol

I didn't see your additional questions. LO is in some kind of childcare Monday - Thursday. Daycare or Grammy care or a babysitter if either of those is not available (our daycare operates on a school calendar so there are closures).
I bill about 20 hours per week but I work more than that. In the freelance life, you don't get paid when you are doing admin stuff like making to do lists, invoices, etc. and you don't get paid if you take a break to eat lunch or change out the laundry or even run errands which I do like having the flexibility to do during the day, but try not to. All that to say, LO is in about 30 hours per week of childcare and I still wake up early and stay up late to get everything done. Fridays are my day "off" and I try not to work but I may do a little during nap time or when she is watching a show.

Thanks everyone! Looks like maybe I will have more luck if I set up my desk in my bedroom as my "home office". I am doing freelance work and set my own hours and work load, so I need to impose some more direct boundaries I think. Either I think about the stuff I am working on all day and im distracted, or I don't think about it all and don't get anything done. I also have a really hard time working during nap time and evenings. My toddler only sleeps 9-10 hours at night right now, and by the time I get the baby in bed it is my bedtime too. I might need to rethink this a bit haha Thanks for all the responses!
Have any of you found a way to help yourself get focused when you only have an hour or two to work? I have such a hard time getting started if I know I am going to have to stop soon after.

@Mrs. Lion: I really hate it when I have to work evenings, it feels like I spend all day working hard looking after DS, and then once he goes to bed I start the working day again, there is just no break! I try and keep evening work as a last resort as it does not do good for my happiness levels.
I used to find it very hard to get into something when I knew that DS could wake up at any moment (after a couple of hours at best), but over time it has just gradually got easier to shift gears in my brain and get stuck in straight away. I find it helps to spend some time breaking down my work into small chunks so I have a better chance of finishing something - though obviously that may not be possible depending on the type of work.

@Bubbles: That makes sense. I should definitely try that! If I know I can finish a task I have an easier time getting started.
