Hey there ladies! Curious of those of you who may have found out you were pregnant around the time you started a new job/accepted a promotion. DH and I are actively trying and I have accepted a promotion. When did you let work know once you were successfully pregnant?

I wouldn't tell work till you are pregnant and then I would still wait 12 weeks at least.

Yeah. Same as smurfette. You just never know what the timing will be etc. I would wait until 12+ weeks to say anything.

Thank you both! That's what my gut says. I did edit my post to reflect "once pregnant" as I see now that was unclear.

As an employer, I'd prefer to know as early as you are comfortable telling people (presumably, shortly after you tell your friends and family). It can take time and effort to make arrangements for someone who will be taking leave, especially for a smaller employer. If you just accepted a promotion, they may even want to have someone else do some of your training with you for the new position so that person can cover for you while you're gone.

I was just promoted and started on a new position when I got pregnant. I still waited until around 14 weeks to tell anyone. There's still plenty of time to figure out what changes need to be made, if any!

I took on a new position around 10 weeks and told my boss a couple weeks later. It's life *shrug*

I wouldn't disclose until 12+ weeks at work regardless of any circumstance, promotion, etc.

I definitely wouldn't say anything until 12+ weeks.

I didn't say anything to anyone (even family) until 12 weeks.

I think giving work 3-4 months notice would be plenty. It is personal so I don't think you need to announce at 12 weeks unless you wanted to. And I wouldn't share anything before then, people can be so nosy and gossipy.

We are definitely guarded this time around. Had a chemical recently. I worked a small private medical practice with my previous pregnancy years ago and now I am employed by county government so there is enough coverage for when I will potentially be gone. Not wanting to put the horse before the cart but was definitely curious what others have done. I appreciate all of you who chimed in
