Never mind the fact that absolutely not, but who asks that?? Especially as the very first thing that comes out of her mouth the first time seeing a pregnant person? Oh, and then puts her hands all over my belly. Not to mention, this isn't someone we're actually close to--she's the girlfriend of one of dh's high school friends.

I was asked that by dh's coworker when first meeting. He asked if it was planned while i was super pregnant.

Yeah, my parents asked "was it planned?" right away. I was a little annoyed! There are lots of other things to say.

@.twist.: lol, I think Monday is 25 weeks, I'm sleeping like crap, peeing constantly, and know it's only going to get worse from here (it turns out you only forget the bad pregnancy stuff for so long, then the memories come flooding back)- I'm just waiting for my next victim to show their face so I can unleash my pent up rage. Wish I could take on everyone's idiots for them, it's so fulfilling to yell at complete strangers

It's absolutely rude, but I think some people react like that because they just aren't ready to have kids themselves and can only react to if they were you (or at least that's been true in my circle of friends). Not that I know whether this lady has kids

I was asked that only once. I LOL at it though because I think it's hilarious that someone could think DH and I made it to the age of 32 without knowing how babies ate made and that we wouldn't realize having sex could produce a baby. Just.... Lol.
I really wanted to wide eye them and be all " I STILL don't know how it happened!"

@Anagram: yeah I laughed it off last night but it was still bothering me anyway! it's so ridiculous--we've been married 3 years and are both around 30 so most people who actually know us have been more like "I knew it!" than anything else.
@runnerd: that might be true! she doesn't have kids, but also doesn't have much tact in general!

@nana87: This was my MIL's first question! Actually it was, "Was this a mistake?" We'd even told her we were hoping to get pregnant around this time, and we've been married almost 2 years. It was very weird. FIL (who found out separately) said, "Weren't you going to wait until your careers were more stable?" Thanks for that, guys.

We got asked this all the time with number two, because our LOs are 15 months apart. It's such a rude question... I never knew how to answer them (because it wasn't planned)
