Low- a double meltdown at the Carter's store yesterday! LO 1 was bored in line so she decided to wake up LO 2...lots of crying, screaming and sideeye involved.
High- my LOs played well today! Lots of sharing!

Low: While I was at the community hall running the school`s book fair on Saturday, she decided that when Daddy said no that she would throw stuff at him.
High: Today when she came with me to the Elementary School to set the fair up again for the last four days she helped put out books, although usually not anywhere near where they went...

High: Watching LO and DH run along the beach today, playing chase in perfect sunshine and beautiful weather...And then us all picking up shells and throwing them in the water together:)
Low: Getting home and going to change LO only to realize that she had a secret poopy/runny/nonsmelly diaper for who knows how long (we changed her before we left for the beach but it had been a couple of hours), and it burned her skin so bad she was bleeding in a couple of spots
Parenting FAIL. She has never bled from diaper rash before:(

High: Seeing my son learn to crawl has been the coolest thing ever! And he's sooooo close now the weekend has been full of hysterical/cute near misses.
Low: Got 30 minutes off of solo parenting all weekend from my mother in law, went to get a manicure and forgot my wallet in the baby bag. D'oh. Luckily the ladies were understanding and let me pay the next day! So overall this weekend was awesome!

high - jam packed with activity, lots of friends, birthdays, but no meltdowns
low - they were very well behaved this weekend and even took naps. rare but no low!

Low: LO not enjoying the hot air balloon festival we were at on Saturday evening, while showing signs of "something is seriously wrong" as in coughing, runny nose, wanting to be held all the time, 99.1 F, really disinterested in everything. I was very worried.
(FYI: He was actually fine after we returned home from the balloon fest. I guess he was really disinterested haha. So he is not as sick as I feared him to be)
High: We've been struggling with having him using a public toilet for the longest time since he was day trained a few weeks ago. I have been sweating bullets because he won't pee/poo in his pull up anymore, and he won't use any potty other than home/daycare either, and we are traveling abroad in 3 weeks. So after I worked very hard with the teachers at daycare for the past week and consulted with our pediatrician and his child psychologist wife, he was finally willing to try to go to the potty while we were out twice on Saturday (with nothing coming out), and successfully peed today when we stopped by a hotel ! (We were literally 5 minutes away from home, but he suddenly said he wanted to "pee in a potty outside". you can not turn down such offer lol). You have no idea how excited I was! But I am cautiously keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

Low: naughty behavior today. Slapping, hitting, pinching, just being generally aggressive when she doesn't get her way or you don't pay attention to her fast enough. Plus my body is sensitive from pregnancy so her grabbing me roughly or jumping on my stomach really feels awful. A couple of times, i reflexively tossed her off me from jumping on me too hard. Which of course, turned into a game. Also a really nasty diaper rash.
High: She's still being generally sweet and stuff. Played in the backyard with me, throwing balls and running around like a lunatic. Gave lots of kisses.
Just kind of a dr jekyl mr. hyde personality going on

@PrincessBaby: due to switching detergents my poor LO has had 2 diaper rashes that made her bleed. Once we. She was only 3 months old & mostly recently at 12 months old. She was crying all night & I didn't smell or see (only looked by night light) any poop so she stayed in the diaper all.night.long. I sobbed the next morning when I saw her bottom.
Low: solo parenting for the roughest part of our day for 2 days in a row while DH did whatever he wanted.
High: going shopping (not grocery shopping or errand running, just going out) all afternoon today, all alone. It was nice to just walk around stores & think my own quiet thoughts & do my thing. Another higg, is that LO is cute & I love her deeply. Her face is the high of everyday.

@blackbird: my LO totally has that personality thing going on the majority of days. She's lucky she's cute. lol

@Mrs. Sunshine: OMG she's awesome and then she's effing crazy. i'm like WHAT IS GOING ON. It's really amplified when she's tired (like today). Yesterday she took a long nap and was mostly super well behaved! Today? Crazy baby.
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@blackbird: haha does it make you feel crazy too? One minute I'm all "oh my god. I absolutely adore being your mother!" &then next I'm trying to keep from screaming "what is wrong with you?!?" lol she totally has me on a crazy ride!!

High: My parents took her overnight and I got to sleep until 10:30 this morning.... Does that count? hahaha. Realistically, we took her to a Halloween event at our Zoo on Friday and she was SO cute and SO excited. It was heart-melting to watch the joy in her face.
Low: The massive melt-down at the pumpkin patch when I have to go pull her out of a hay maze she had run off into.... in front of a huge crowd of people. *sigh*
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@Mrs. Sunshine: YES!!! OMG. I swing high and low right along with her. I feel so manipulated--she basically physically and emotionally abuses me, then comes over for a cuddle and i'm like IT'S OK I LOVE YOU
@loveisstrange: we had one when we left the park today. Insaaaaane how loud they can be for how tiny they are

Low: DS breaking out in mystery hives while eating. Twice.
High: Getting to take him all kinds of awesome places two days in a row, having a blast, and realizing on Sunday night that I feel so proud of the curious kid he is, and of myself and DH for giving him this awesome weekend.

High - Tons of happiness with just DH, LO, and me. We did a 5k yesterday, went to the pumpkin patch, had lunch out, went to a carnvial. She was an absolute love bug at church, giving everybody hugs, and all three of us played in the backyard for a bit today.
Low - Late nap yesterday and really short nap today meant that she was a small terror before bed, but even that wasn't terrible as DH and tag-teamed it.

Highs: E was super sweet today and made me laugh a lot. B kept saying sweet things to his sisters, like how adorable they are. He was well behaved at my parents house when we visited so that was a relief. N was calm and smiley all weekend.
Lows: B woke up at 4am yesterday. Getting all three kids ready yesterday was nuts. Tons of screaming, crying, boo boo's, things going wrong left and right. E got a high fever after taking a nap at my parents house so we had to go home. N spat up A LOT this weekend...so she was cold even after I would change her clothes and I did a ton of mopping.

Feel like I have had a lot of lows this weekend. Getting mad/yelling on a few occasions. Then today trying to get work done and not realizing my daughter was really sick with a bad fever (she was playing with her auntie). I felt like the worst mom ever... even after she fell asleep and looked so miserable I kept sort of underestimating the situation.
High... Friday night high school homecoming with my husband and two kids. We had so much fun. My kids (ages 2 and 3) loooooooove football. My son was so excited to meet the mascot and say hi to the players. He saw them as, like, major celebrities

@autumnlove: Thanks!! Yay I know!! I was seriously very discouraged when today, before we went out and I gave him the big speech of how the teachers had asked him to use the potty with mommy when at restaurants/outside, and how he should give it a try, and how I would give him a small gift if he actually pees....etc. etc. and he sternly said no many times. Then it happened! But again I am not going to be overjoyed yet. These toddler beings' behaviors are not reliable lol

High: She learned to crawl this weekend! And she's pulling up on the couch, on the verge of cruising.
Low: I gave her a little of my spaghetti tonight, forgetting that I had used spicy Italian sausage to make it. I guess the spiciness had a delayed effect, because she seemed fine for a while...then she cried bitter tears. The look on her face said, "Why did you give me that?!"

Low- Told at least a dozen times over the past few days that I look like I have my hands full. It definitely wears over time, I'm really tired of hearing it from random strangers.
High- Spending more time with my family lately, the boys are really enjoying the time with their grandparents. It was nice today to just drop them off and enjoy a nice quiet, positive church service, then celebrate my grandpa's 85th birthday afterwards with them all.

High: we travelled for 8 hours in the car for a weekend in PA to visit my brother's family. Both boys were awesome car riders!
Low: M choked on a baby snack this weekend but was quickly able to get it up. Scary in the moment, but he's ok now.

Low: I introduced a Play-doh set to LO. She's only ever played with play-doh at daycare. She went nuts. I took it away
High: She played so well with BIL on Saturday. She was in a really sweet mood all day and was super nice to the in-laws. It was mainly because we got her to nap even though she slept in that morning.

High: We went to a Halloween party at our local children's museum and my son had a blast...even though he later said he didn't have a good time, he did.
Low: Power struggles on Sunday.

Low: No naps. At all. And, a midnight bed visitor on both nights.
High: Tired P becomes pretty sweet. Looked up at me in the supermarket and said "Mom. I love you!" out of nowhere. Also, since she didn't nap she went to bed early and I was able to have an hour to myself before I went to sleep.

Low: We had a really rough morning on saturday, just all around crankiness and tears and tantrums
High: After her nap, she woke up in a much better mood. Then she took her first real steps! She would prop up on the end of the couch and take 3-4 steps to me or hubs... we are so proud!

High: L behaving while I spent most of Saturday cleaning. Also, he asked to go to bed 15 minutes early and slept until 7:40. Did I mention this was while DH was at a football game all day?
Low: L generally acting like a toddler (ie: refusing to sit in the stroller and running EVERYWHERE) when we took him to a restaurant sampling event for charity on Sunday.

high: LO is starting to giggle when I tickle her--makes me melt!
low: poor girl had a cold all weekend and her first fever on Saturday
she had really loooong motn wake ups too, prob bc she was so stuffy it was hard to breathe/settle down. Sat night dh was out for his bff's bday and lo was up from 10:30-1 so I was on solo-duty, and then last night she was up from 12:30-3 and had extreme mommy preference, so I am zonked!

Low: LO found a nickel on the floor and almost choked on it. She was running around being silly, giggling and putting random things in her mouth, like socks, etc. and coming to me for a reaction. All of a sudden, she came in choking. Before I even realized what was going on, she coughed up a nickel. Nearly gave me a heart attack.
High: Took LO trick-or-treating for the first time. She had so much fun and was such a ham. She did a great job saying "trick-or-treat" and making her little elephant noise (she was dressed as an elephant). She was very polite and told everyone thank you unprompted.

@autumnlove: I know! I have no idea where she even got it. Usually I am so careful about that because I remember my sister doing it as a little kid!

High - took T to the pumpkin patch solo (although I went with my sister and niece, but I was handling my 8 mo old alone!!) and we had a great time!!
Low - really wanted a pic of him with some pumpkins. So I set him down on his booty (not perfected sitting yet) and asked my sister to hover over him to catch him if he falls. She turned away for one second to stop her daughter from eating dirt and he fell back and hit his head on the ground. He was okay (ground was pretty soft) after a few minutes but I felt bad I put him in that position just for a picture!!

High: Made time to work on crafts and activities with L. Took her out of the house to the park instead of making her suffer through house cleaning and errands only
Low: Both kids have a cold, K is going through 2nd leap, L is just being a cranky toddler who loves screaming during tantrums instead just normal crying
