So, how did you keep weight gain at bay in the first trimester? If you weren't constantly throwing up, just nauseous, craving very little, yet still gaining weight, how did you keep the weight gain under control?

I'm interested in this as well! I've lost weight this past year, gained a little back this winter, and have recently started losing again. We are three months in TTC and I'm curious what others have done to maintain healthy habits once they got pregnant.

If you aren't gorging yourself on unhealthy food, I wouldn't stress about weight gain. I think our bodies tend to do what they need to do to maintain a healthy pregnancy and we only have control to a certain extent. That doesn't mean eat donuts and ice cream all day and say you had no control over the weight, but if you are living a pretty healthy lifestyle and still gaining, I say just go with the flow.

I ate healthy but whenever I was hungry and exercised and then just tried to be zen about what I gained. I gained about 9 lbs in the first tri but still only 25 lbs overall.

I did not get any morning sickness and only occasional loss of appetite. I had relatively healthy eating habits prior to getting pregnant and I just continued to eat the same. In addition, I continued my usual exercise regime. I overall gained 5 lbs. in my first trimester. My cravings kicked in in the second trimester and I was not so diligent and gained the most amount of weight then.

I gained 5 lbs in the first tri - no morning sickness and tons of cravings. My second pregnsncy ended in miscarriage at week 8 but by then I had already gained 4 lbs. same thing, no morning sickness and big appetite. If I get pregnant again I am going to be more careful about what I eat in oreder to avoid gaining so much that soon.

I kept track of what I ate using My Fitness Pal - it helped me make sure I was getting enough of the right kind of nutrients. It's always been hard for me to get the recommended amount of protein, but especially during the first tri, when all I could really stomach was carbs and more carbs. I also made waaay more of an effort to get up and walk around at work, since I didn't have the energy or motivation to go to the gym when I felt like crap.

I didn't do anything! I mean just eat healthy and balanced, like I usually do, and indulge here and there. I'm up 8 lbs at 20 weeks!

I just made sure to stay near 2000 daily calories and to get any exercise I could. I didn't gain anything the first trimester.

I ate often, kept up my exercise routine, and gave into cravings but with portion control (hello wings, lucky charms, and candy ) ended up gaining 15 lb by 20 wks but it leveled off and I only gained 27 total for the pregnancy.

Same as Charlotte & Rainbow Sprinkles stated! I just keep eating healthy well balanced meals and only splurge on small occasions. I still work out as I did before (with major modifications) and it works for me! I let my body gain what it needs to gain for baby.

i was pretty nauseas for most of the first trimester so i might have actually lost a couple of pounds. so i was a bit more focused on healthy weight gain in the subsequent trimesters. what did it for me, unfortunately, was gestational diabetes. i had to check my sugars all day so i was on a strict diet (basically zero carbs
). i also ran and worked out until 39 weeks. ended up gaining 23lbs total. although i do remember eating everything in sight for a few weeks in the third trimester. then you just get too big and too uncomfy so the eating tapered off again...

I calorie counted. It worked both ways. On good days I made sure I wasn't eating too much and on bad days that I was eating enough.

I went to the gym! But I did that before I was pregnant too, so no habit change. And I made sure to eat well balanced meals. I had no problems.
