We told my parents right away. I had had a prior miscarriage and was having some of the same symptoms and I needed support from my mommy.

We waited until after my first ultrasound (at 8 weeks) to tell my inlaws and siblings.

The rest of the family will find out tomorrow after our NT scan (12 weeks 3 days) assuming all goes well.

I don't expect anyone to give us a hard time. But I do think our parents probably would have been hurt if we didn't tell them earlier than we told to rest of the family. They never would have said anything about it, but I do think it would probably upset them a little.

We didn't tell anyone in my family until 12 weeks. Our reasons were my Mom has a big mouth and the whole family would know in 10 minutes if we told her right off. I'm 34 and was worried about what could happen in that first trimester. We are glad we waited and my family never complained about not knowing right away. I say, do what's right for YOU, not for other people. If you feel more comfortable keeping it a secret, do so.

We did a rolled out approach to sharing. We told our families around 8-10 weeks, close friends around 11 weeks, other friends around 12 weeks. After that we shared with more of the general public.

We're in the pre-TTC stage right now, but have already discussed waiting until 12+ weeks to tell anyone, even parents. I just wouldn't want the pressure of having to deal with telling them bad news if something were to happen the first trimester. I think a lot of people these days keep it a secret for much longer, so hopefully our family would be understanding.

We told our immediate families at about 6 weeks. I wanted to wait longer however DH wanted to wait. I waited until my first appointment before we told our extended families and close friends. Some of them were mad that we waited till 8 weeks to tell which upset me because I could have waited for 12 weeks! I think they are just used to how the other ladies in the families told right away

With my first pregnancy we told our parents right away. Two weeks later the doctor did an ulta sound and told me it was twins. I was in shock So I told my mother within 20 minutes my cousins second cousin was calling me on the phone. Talk about blabber mouths. It was so overwhelming. I told my mom if I miscarried she would have to call every one

The second time around we told our parents and sister with the explicit directions that no one else was to be notified until we said so. There was some family drama going on and I didn't want to mess with it. At 14 weeks we told the test of the family. I had one cousin who fussed a bit but I explained my reasoning and apologized if it hurt her feelings but it was what we thought was best. She eventually was fine.

We didn't tell anyone until 11 weeks and people weren't upset at all.

We were going to wait til second trimester to tell anyone, but seven wks in, I felt like I needed to tell my family and close gfs. Those ppl in our life that I'd need support from if something bad were to have happened!

Regardless, I think everyone would have understood. We just publicly announced yesterday and everyone has been super supportive and gracious I their response to the news.

I was pregnant for a week (chemical pregnancy), and was planning on telling my best friend after the first ultrasound (8 wks) and our family and friends at 12 wks. However, after the pregnancy went away, I ended up telling my mom about it. When we get pregnant again, I'm planning on following that same guideline (though if I see my best friend prior to eight weeks, I may tell her, as we don't get to see each other a lot, and I'd love to be able to tell her in person).

I am glad we decided to wait, because even if I swore my mom to secrecy, she would tell at least two other people, and it would have been really hard to have to deal with telling a lot of people that we lost the pregnancy.

I'm 5 1/2 weeks and my friend and her husband know and I told my sister. we've been talking about when to tell our families. I would really like to tell my mom after our first appointment (at 8 weeks), but I know hubs will also want to tell his mom and I don't trust her to not tell her sisters, which means the entire freaking family would know within 30 seconds. So I think what we've decided is to wait to tell everyone at our annual 4th of July party, which will be when I'm 11 weeks. I really want to tell my mom earlier, but I think hubs will be a little upset if she knows before his mom.

We waited until our first trimester was done.
They were shocked, happy and more surprised I could keep a secret that long.

With the exception of one very close friend, we did not tell anyone until after the NT scan at 12 weeks. I will be 15 weeks tomorrow and have not told my work. Only close friends and family know; not extended family or everyone on facebook. I doubt we will ever make a facebook announcement. No one has given us a hard time at all. A few people guessed, like my mom, because I wasn't drinking, etc.

We waited until 13 or 15 weeks (for Thanksgiving, to tell some people in person). No one mentioned being offended, but it is possible.

Waited until after the first MD appt to tell our parents/families /few close friends(around 9 weeks) and shared with everyone else around 14 weeks. No one was upset.
So, I think we'll do the same this time around. Although I am itching to tell my sister right away.
