Before your due date, what did you go to L&D for, if you went?
Just curious as what type of things people end up there for!

I went at 24 weeks because I was having really frequent and uncomfortable Braxton Hicks contractions. They told me I had an irritable uterus, and sent me on my way.

Although we planned a homebirth, I ended up there at 28 weeks cause we were in a bad car accident & I couldn't feel her move. Thankfully all was ok!

Twice...once because I had a stomach bug and I needed to be rehydrated, and the second time because of high blood pressure.

I went I think 3 times in my last few weeks due to pregnancy induced hypertension.

I almost ended up there because I/LO failed the NST at my 40 week exam. she didn't move the amount of times she was supposed to in the time period, so they sent me over to the prenatal diagnosis center (nxt to the hosp) for a biophysical profile and NST. if i "failed" that one too, they were going to make me go into L&D.

I went in because it was the weekend and they thought I had a kidney infection, thankfully I did not.

I tripped and fell on my belly while walking my dogs at 37 weeks. I spent the night in L&D so they could monitor the baby since I was having contractions.

I went at 23 weeks because I had contractions. I was dilated to 1cn.
I went back a few more times for PTL but never dilated any further. I delivered at 39 weeks via scheduled c-section (breech baby).

@MrsTiz: Got in a car accident at 27 weeks, and also had severe abdominal pain at 22 weeks. Both went to ER first and they released me to L&D. The next time I went was to have the baby.
Well, that and the tour (at 28 weeks).

It wasn't L&D, but it was Triage (where our hospital would start us if we were in labor) - I was there around 30/32 weeks (I think?) I had bad RLP with some heat that they thought might be a blood clot, so I got a full vascular check and baby check. All was good! I did have an infection though so it was good that I went.

My hospital has an OBGYN ER and I ended up there FIVE times during my pregnancy. Stomach flu, bleeding, pre term contractions, they thought my water broke, insane UTI that caused more bleeding and more contractions. Pregnancy was reaaallly fun for me.

@MrsTiz: The way that they described it was my uterus was very sensitive to pregnancy in general, and that sensitivity causes it to contract haphazardly and frequently. Idk if I even believe that was the problem; I just think my body liked to practice for labor to be prepared.

At 20 weeks I ended up there because i had kidney stones. They admitted me and I spent 3 days in the hospital waiting for it to pass.
At 24 weeks I was sent to a different hospitals L&D because i was in a car accident and they wanted to observe me for 4 hours

I went to Triage in our L & D at 34 weeks because I was convinced my water had broken. I stood up at our newborn care class and my pants were soaked. I had a wet ring around where I was sitting in the chair. My water didn't break. I just peed on myself.

I went the day before I was admitted because I wanted to get checked.. Contractions were 2-4 min and sore (back labor) but irregular so I wasn't sure what to make of it...admitted the next day. I don't know if that's what you're looking for but that's it for me...

I went in the day before I went into active labor because my bloody show was heavier and lasted longer than normal (I had a friable cervix). That was to the triage section of L&D. They monitored me for a little while, did an exam to be sure it wasn't coming from my uterus, and sent me home.

@MrsTiz: oh it was quite funny. My DH even said, " are you sure you just didn't pee?" And I was all, "there was so much, it HAD to be my water!" Yeah, I looked stupid.

@Jennimac: I don't know if I would have been able to go back after that.

Second pregnancy I went in 4 times starting at 26 or 27 weeks,
First time was kidney stones (actually went to the er & they sent us to L&D)
Second was PTL at 30 weeks (dilated to 2), I spent a few days there on magnesium sulfate. Bedrest after that.
Third was a couple days after the last trip for my second round of kidney stones.
Fourth was around 36 weeks with contractions right on top of each other,
With the last pregnancy I went in once at 36 weeks with contractions 1-2 min apart, dilated to 3 or 4 depending on who checked. I was sent home since I didn't progress further.

@MrsTiz: Hah! Irritable uterus is what they told me I had after the car accident gave me contractions. I think it's a word for "contractions we can't explain but they aren't a cause for worry." @Pepper: Your explanation is better though.
@Jennimac: When my water broke the hospital asked "Are you sure you didn't pee?" And I said, "I'm pregnant and I don't think I did but honestly this body isn't really mine anymore, so maybe I did."

I went in at 32weeks +6 because I had seen some bloody mucus when I wiped. My Dr told me to go in just to be safe. Turned out I was in labor. I was admitted and had to stay for 4 days. Then again at 36weeks when I was in labor and admitted for delivery.

False labor at 35+5. Contractions 5 minutes apart for 3 hours but I was only a fingertip dilated. Real labor contractions were way more intense!

I went in my third tri for monitoring after being in a car accident. Thankfully we were both fine!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: and @evansjamie: and@pastemoo: luckily our class was 30 minutes away from the hospital we are delivering at, so I didn't have to see the teacher or again. I never thought I wouldn't know that I had peed on myself, but clearly the baby has taken over my body.

I had pre-e and was sent from my OB's office to be monitored when I first developed it (35 weeks) and twice more that week (I was on bed rest at home except I was always in L&D!) I went in once more with terrible abdominal pain and it turned out I had HELLP syndrome. They admitted me then and induced me (36 weeks).

I went to the ER at 24 weeks for severe panic attacks that had lasted more than a week with no sleep. They sent me to L&D to be monitored. I ended up being admitted to a perinatal mood unit.

I went for a tour with my childbirth education class and then to have my ECV carried out.

I went in at 39wks due to reduced fetal movement. Baby was absolutely fine though and was probably thinking about the calm before the storm as she arrived 3 days later
Whilst I was there I heard others being checked for the same, and suspected amniotic fluid leaking.
