Do you do a load every day? A bunch on certain days?
We live in an apartment building so I usually do 3 loads on Wednesday (2 color, 1 whites) and 3 loads on Sunday (1 color, 1 towels, 1 linens).
What about you?

I try to do a basket of someone's clothes every day, and then a load of diapers every other day.

Wait until me or DH is out of underwear, do all laundry.
(I assume I'll need to be a bit more scheduled when LO arrives… lol)

I'm the same as @Mae!
Well, we usually try to tackle it on the weekends. If I do it, I'll do all of it. I don't understand how DH sorts but he'll end up doing everything but what I needed the most.

I tend to do laundry about every other day or so. I'm just amazed how quickly the basket fills up!

I do kid laundry either Friday evening or Sunday evening, and depending on when those loads happen (they include all the daycare nap bag stuff and their puffy coats and snow pants), I'll do another load of kid laundry mid week either Tuesday or Thursday.
I do our laundry about twice a month, usually on another weekend evening, a night I don't do kid laundry.

I usually do R's every Friday. Otherwise I just do everything else when needed.

@Mae: Nope, we still do it the same way with a kid!
Last night, I noticed that Liam only had two pairs of clean underwear left, so I did a load of his laundry. We do most of our own clothes on the weekends, though.

2 loads (darks and every thing else) on one day usually thursday night
pomegranate / 3983 posts
I try to do one load a day, but if I skip a day then the next day I do one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

A load a day...towels/linens, whites, DH & me, baby, random cleaning/kitchen rags. I HATE laundry since having a baby, lol. She likes to "help" me so I can't get away with putting stuff away until late at night or early in the morning or nap time....all times when I'm tired and just want to lay down.

With no babies, laundry day is Sunday. A load of husband's darks, my darks, bleach/linens/socks, and if I have enough, a load of my lights. Towels get thrown in with whoever has the smaller load of darks (usually me) or the bleach load if we've used our white towels that week.

I do a basket just about every day, weekends get 3-4 (towels, linens, remainder of clothes)

Since my baby is a puker, I do her laundry either every day or every other day, depending on how many outfits and burp cloths she goes through. For the rest of us, maybe 4 loads per week. But in reality, I feel like I'm doing at least one load per day.

@grizz: Same! CDs take up a whole evening, so I have to fit in the other laundry on the days I'm not washing CDs

I try to save it all for Saturday or Sunday, but by the time I put it away it's usually Tuesday/Wednesday. Note to self: next house will have a main floor laundry

We share a washer and dryer with 5 other units, so I have to be really present when doing laundry. I usually wait until we REALLY need something to wear before I do it. Someday, when we have our own machine I would love to do it daily!

I do diapers every other day and clothes when the basket gets full (every 2-3 days). Towels once a week. It works out to about a load a day.

I wash when I run out of something and usually then other things are probably needed so I'll do a few loads at a time.
persimmon / 1404 posts
I usually do two loads of my clothes per week, wash the bedding on the weekend, and towels, etc. once during the week whenever I have time.

I just do it when I get the time. Sometimes it's one load sometimes it's 4 loads.

1 load Friday night
The rest on Saturday
Depending on the weekend I sometimes do a small load Sunday night

I do a load of my husband's work shirts on Friday night, since they just need to be washed (hang to dry). I also include any of my tops and pants that can be machine washed in that load.
Saturday I do 2 loads, dark and light, mixed colored clothes. Sunday I do whites (includes towels) and bedding.
pomelo / 5720 posts
We do it as needed. Usually that means a load or two during the week, plus diapers, then another load or two on the weekend. I really wish I had more of a schedule!
persimmon / 1361 posts
Everything on Sunday. I try not to miss a week because it gets overwhelming otherwise!
persimmon / 1447 posts
Whenever I can. I should probably have a better system, but it all depends on how I feel when I get home from work and what our weekend plans are.

Right now usually Sat or Sun, do 1 load of sheets/towels, one load of clothes. I'm pretty bad; I don't really separate anything.
pomegranate / 3105 posts
1 load of colours on Sundays. Whites I don't have enough f so usually a load every two weeks. Towels every 2 to 3. Before living with hubs I only had to do laundry every 3 to 4 weeks. Now I have to make sure his work clothes are clean for Mondays. Sheets weekly.
pomegranate / 3858 posts
I do a load during the medium rate period (11-5 now) on Fridays if I'm working at home, otherwise it all gets done on the weekends because we have time-of-use billing for energy consumption.
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
Pre baby: do it all every 4 days or so. Linens and bed sheets every other time.
Now that LO is here it never stops. There's always clean laundry waiting to be folded and washer and dryer are always full and there's always a load ready to be washed. I need to start a schedule!
cherry / 168 posts
I pretty much do a load a day.
My daily schedule is sort, wash, dry, put in washing basket and forget to fold and put away!
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
Diapers daily...we could go every other day but I like to be prepared in case something comes up. I generally do two loads (towels & work clothes/everything else) every other day. I don't fold on wash days, I usually fold the day after so I essentially do laundry daily
