To answer the question, I make the lousy books disappear, and I'm relatively selective at the library. There are plenty of excellent books, no need to spend time on ones that aren't.

Definitely get the original. I think it's fantastic! @nana87: I agree! But I think it mostly had to do with length, the original has 63 pages.
