I know I should work out for my health but sometimes that still isn't enough to motivate me. I need goals like looking good for a friend's wedding, vacation or fitting into a pair of jeans in my closet.
What motivates you?

how i feel the rest of the day. I go to the gym before work, and every time i don't make it, i feel sluggish at work, get less done and don't eat as well. Reasons enough for me!

Almost nothing, it's terrible. Sometimes the guilt of knowing what I was paying for my gym membership. Before my wedding, wearing my engagement ring helped so I could remember I wanted to look good for the big day. So sad that my own health wasn't a good enough reason but looking good in pictures helped.
On a related note-- it's my vanity and worries about wrinkles that gets me to wear sunscreen or wear a hat even more than the threat of skin cancer.

I like feeling strong. When I don't work out I start feeling soft and weak.

I like to look good/fit and feel strong. I don't like to tire out easily, and working out keeps my energy up!
Oh and stress relief.

Wearing sleeveless tops and thinking about getting in a bathing suit to swim at the beach motivate me.

My sanity
Seriously - if I go more than a week w/o a really good workout, I become so grumpy and I get stressed so easily. I guess I'm addicted to the endorphins.
Oh, and looking good is a nice bonus - he he

It gives me a lot of confidence...not for vanity reasons, but to know that I am strong enough to lift X amount and that I have the stamina to make it through a grueling conditioning workout.

Looking good naked.
But also, the good mood it puts me in, feeling fit and strong, and being able to eat a lot!

Because it makes me feel like I can do anything . . . which helps with every other part of my life.
Oh, annnnnd, like @IRunForFun, I like to look good nekkid!

I feel so much better when I work out. I've never felt more powerful than when I trained and could rock a 7 - 10 mile run. Not fast, but I could run it!

Not having to shop in a plus size store. Seriously, the clothes suck and I love clothes!

I love the way I feel when I'm working out, on a consistent basis. Even more so when paired with a fully clean diet.
It's been a while since I've been able to do both, considering the nausea hell I was in for the first half of my pregnancy, and the back pain I've experienced in the second. I'm looking forward to getting back into a solid routine. Small milestones do help - a vacation, wedding, etc. Overall, I'm just used to being petite and lean, and feel my best maintaining that.

Whenever I get really down and depressed, it means I haven't been taking care of myself so I get motivated to never want to feel that way!!
Oh and unflattering photos. I asked DS to snap a picture with my phone of DD on a toy at the park and he only got one of me bending over holding onto DD. Yuck.

Losing the baby weight AND feeling good about myself so that DD doens't see me judging myself for my looks and I'm not setting a bad example for her. When I work out, I have confidence and feel better, and I want her to emulate that. Not the me that complains about being fat/judges herself/has low self esteem.

There are a few things... One thing I think of the most is my kids.
Working out before/during pregnancy is so good for the baby. And after pregnancy, I work out to stay in shape so that my weight/health never gets in the way of playing hands on with J. I want to be able to play his sports with him, go swimming with him, biking, camping etc.. If I didn't care for myself, that would be really difficult.

I work out so that I can eat what I want. I cannot do diets. I just don't have it in me. I love food too much.

@Foodnerd81: Um yes. x1000000
Nothing. I wish someone would shed some light on some amazing motivator because I'm in desperate need of one!
Something that USED to motivate me was one specific friend. Her and I were in AMAZING shape together and we pushed each other all the time. Then she moved 2 hours away. I tried other friends, but they just didn't work. lol...
Also, finding something that you enjoy more than "working out" because you know what, sometimes working out SUCKS. So instead I'd rather do an activity that is working out that doesn't "feel" like working out. I LOVE rock climbing. Unfortunately, that special friend was my climbing buddy and since she moved I haven't been able to find a partner to climb with and my husband is scared of heights. *le sigh*

I usually need motivation I work out so I can feel confident in the way I look. I worked out so hard several years ago for a friend's wedding bc my ex was going to be there and I didn't want to feel bad about myself - so sad looking back but at the time it was a great motivator
Currently I am motivated bc we are having pro photos taken next month. I know I should be motivated for health reasons but in all honesty vanity is what works best for me

@IRunForFun: haha! That would be awesome! I wonder if Skype Rock Climbing is a thing yet? LOL

@.twist.: Hahaha we could totally make it a thing! I'm sure it would catch on fast.

Right now I'm mainly doing it to be healthy for the baby, but I swim, so now that it's hot, cooling off is definitely a motivation as well! Going with another person has helped me in the past. Too bad I don't have any yoga or swimming friends around now.

Nothing is motivating me these days, blah And I feel so fat, I even made my sister UNtag me off some FB pics she took over the weekend because I hated how I looked. I think I need to use that as motivation...

-We get half our gym fee paid by my work if I go 8 times a month. My husband's job gives us a good deal on the YMCA membership as it is.
-Losing weight for TTC #2, it worked well last time for us...
-Vacation, post baby bathing suit, ugh!!
-I really do feel great after I work out, it's just so easy to forget that feeling.
-Time to myself, time for C to play with other kids at the gym daycare, it's been some work getting him used to it, but he's doing pretty good with it now!

I do it mostly for stress relief. People think I am nuts to get up at 5am for spin classes, but it keeps me sane when dealing with teenagers.

Stress relief, the runners high, feeling good about myself, liking what I see in the mirror, avoiding guilt.

For self confidence. I've been plus size for years and after the baby I go to a depressed point and gained more weight, basically all the baby weight and then some. I was at my heaviest ever. Luckily, my sister shook me out of it and I've lost 27lbs so far. I want to be where I was in college when I felt GREAT about myself.
I already feel better about myself and I have 66lbs to go.

It used to be just to stay small. Now with being paleo, that's easy even without working out. So my motivation- I hope this does not sound crappy- is that when I'm solo parenting (especially) that's the only break I get. We joined a gym with a yoga studio attached, and I am just a hard-core yogi at heart. It's the only thing I can do that doesnt feel like a workout- it feels GOOD. Not like...something I'm forcing myself to do. So we pay a fee for childcare and they will keep H for up to 2 hours a day. I can take a 90 min yoga class and it's the perfect little break from SAHM solo parenting, or even when my husband is home- he works out at the gym while I take a class.
So my motivation now is just...60-90 minutes of me- time, to zone out:(

@autumnlove: health?!?! Hahahahahahaha
Um, no...my size 2 jeans motivate me. Literally, I do it for my looks and only my looks. I *wish* I was more health oriented.
