I was excited to get a sports car, but I made the mistake of buying a Mitsubishi Starion.

Man that car sucked. The only time Japan has let me down, automotively speaking.
What was your first car?

I drove my mom's Volvo for a little while in high school. But the first car that was really mine was a Toyota Highlander. I loved it. I bought another one as my second car, and now I've just bought a new Toyota Venza. Hubs drives a camry. We heart Toyota.

Ha. I am 26 but didnt own my first car until I was 22 ;-/. Sad I know, but I lived at home until the day I got married and would use my moms car everywhere. Until I crashed it.. then I had to buy my own :(!

@chopsuey119: Wow, nice first car! My Mitsubishi Starion is ashamed to be in the same thread as your SLK!

I still have my first car! I'm 22 (I'm hopefully getting a new car soon though). Its a 2001 Light Green "isotope green" Volkswagen Beetle and I love it, except that's it obviously so tiny and I've got baby on the brain.

@mrbee: HAHA. Yeah, I didn't want to settle on anything so I waited! It was definitely worth it.

My first car was a Toyota camry. It was already 15 years old when I got it but it was in great shape and didn't even have 100,00 miles on it. It was a good car. I definitely miss my little antique! Haha

I got a red VW Jetta when I turned 16. I still own it and it still runs great! (I'm now 24 - will be 25 in April).

I drove my parent's manual Nissan Maxima until I graduated from college, then I bought my own first car when I moved away and started my job: automatic (boo) 2008 Honda Accord V6

I had a hand-me-down 1992 ford ranger with like 150k miles on it. it was pretty awesome.

My parents shipped me my mom's BMW 325xi when I moved to the West Coast for a while and had to suck it up and drive. It was the first time in my life where I had to drive everywhere. Taking driver's ed in NYC in high school was no help either so I was glad to have a super safe car.

Acura rsx.
Now my hubby drives it and I drive his car, since I have the baby and the rsx isn't exactly baby friendly. I really wasn't thinking of babies when I went to pick out my first car, unfortunately.

I went from an ancient VW bug, to a 93 Nissan Sentra (drove that for 15 years) until we got my new precious this year, a 11 Subaru Forester.

My first and second cars were Toyota Camrys, it was the only car my parents trusted.

My first car was a light blue Honda Civic, but I shared it with my sister. That was passed on to my little sister, though. Then my husband and I shared his Toyota Corolla and Mercedes SLK for a couple years (both silver and both hand-me-downs from his parents). The first car I ever bought myself (well, with my husband's help) is the car I drive now - a BMW X3.

My first car was a hand-me-down Honda Civic which was an awesome car that went everywhere and never had any issues. When I graduated college and bought a “new” car, it went to my brother who crashed it

My first car was a '95 Honda Civic. I got it in 2004 when I was 16. It was a great car, made lots of good memories in it!
My mom still has it and drives it occasionally!

1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse that was 8 years old when I bought it. I was 16. I had been saving my whole life for it. I paid for the whole thing in cash.

My first car was a hand-me-down from my Mom, to my brother (for 2 years) to me. 1988 Chevy Corsica. That car was GREAT...until it stopped working right. The first car I ever bought myself was a blue 2001 Jeep Cherokee. My love....until gas prices hit $3/gallon.

My first car my parents bought for me for $500. It was a 1990 (they bought it in 2006) Dodge Spirit in a tan color. It was ugly, but it was mine.

Mine was a 2001 Toyota Corolla that my dad bought for me. I totaled less than a year later =/

My parents gave me a 1982 Ford F-150 when I turned 16, the thing was already old as dirt, but it never ever broke down, it was ugly as heck, but it worked well as a beater truck. I drive it until the floor boards rusted out and we sold it for parts. The first car I bought for myself as a Jeep Cherokee, I was in the army reserve, and travelled a lot for taskings, so it was great for carrying all my stuff with me to work somewhere for 3-4 months at a time during my summer breaks from University. When I finished University, I bought myself a brand new Mitsbishi Eclipse, and I LOVED it, but had to trade it in with our baby on the way!

My first car is my current car! A 2001 silver jetta, vr6. DH keeps hemming and hawing about getting a new car (he wants a ford edge), but I am frugal and want to run this car into the ground, probably literally!

It was white 2002 (I think? I was 16 in '03 & I believe it was a year old) Sebring convertible that my dad usually drove in the summertime. My car now is a 2011 Jeep Compass.

I had a purple 1995 Dodge Neon...I loved that car! When it died I inherited a 98 Explorer, which is what I drive now. Maybe someday I'll have a car that was made in this millennium.

In high school, it was a very used Pontiac Sunbird that would not start after it rained unless I jumped it. That was followed by an equally awesome Oldsmobile.
The first car I bought myself (used) was an '05 Nissan Sentra. I had that until this summer. It was a great little car, but not super for a kiddo. Replaced it with an '11 Hyundai Sonata.

I got my parents old Honda Civic and drove it into the ground. I always had Hondas until I sold my third one last year. I share my hubby's Audi now.

I had a 1986 Mercury Lynx (Ford Escort) hatch back. It was my Great Grandma's and had less than 60k on it in 1999 when I turned 16! I ran it until it cracked a head and blew the engine. 1994 Ford Ranger came next. First car I bought was a '96 Dodge Stratus biggest mistake I could've made, after replacing the entire engine...
