I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow, and my first ultrasound is scheduled for 10.5 weeks. My friend has a doppler which she said I could use if I wanted. I'd love to hear the heartbeat now, but I'm worried if I can't find it I'll freak myself out. What week could you hear it with a doppler if you tried?

17 weeks--my clinic didn't even try to listen before then.

I don't remember, but I don't advise you to try. It's hard for them to find it in the beginning, so I'm sure it would be extra hard for you to find it. And then you'll just freak out.

I bought a doppler and was able to hear it sometime in my 10th week.
I'd wait to see if you hear it at the appointment before trying yourself so early. No matter how hard you try to rationalize why you aren't hearing it, its hard not to worry and sometimes they hide pretty well in there!

Bought Doppler by around week 8 and wasn't able to pick up heartbeats until week 10...

Ok thanks, looks like I was right not to grab it from her! I'm going to do my best to just wait it out. I get jealous when other people get their ultrasounds so early. But I know it would be awful to not be able to find it, even if it was for a perfectly normal reason.

Saw it on the ultrasound at 6 weeks, doctor couldn't find it with doppler at 10 weeks but found it at 11 weeks. Many factors can influence when you hear it, tilt of your uterus (mine was retroverted), your body shape/size (I'm plus sized), etc. I was slightly panicked from week 10 to 11.

my doctor didn't try until monday, at 14 weeks. I did see it on the ultrasound at 10 weeks though!

Had an ultrasound at 10 weeks where we saw the heartbeat, followed right after by an appointment where they tried the doppler and couldn't hear the heartbeat yet. Luckily it happened in that order or I would have been worried!
My next appointment at 14 weeks, we could hear it without any trouble.

We saw the hearbeat on the U/S yesterday; but we won't hear it until our 14 week appt.

I heard it at 16 weeks for my appointment.
