I wanted to breastfeed LO 2 for a year because LO 1 was 9 months old when I weaned.
I'm sure there are other things but that is the only thing I can think of right now!

@stargal: thanks for the reminder-babywearing!!!

Enjoy the baby stage more - try not to stress as much over sleep, nursing, milestones, etc.

Better sleep habits. Not that I want to CIO but let her fuss a bit longer.

I wanted him to not nurse to sleep. And wanted to nurse until at least 18 months.
He started falling asleep drowsy really early on and has been an awesome sleeper. He went on boob strike at 10.5 months, so I pumped until his 1st birthday.

I wanted to BF to a year and just chill out more in general. I accomplished both as far as #2 DS was concerned, but the overall chilling out is still a work in progress

I hoped that breastfeeding would work out (it has), wear the baby more (this is the main way I can bring two kids out on my own), document monthly/weekly photos (so far, so good), and not compare the kids too much (still working on this one).

@loveisstrange: yep. this.
wasn't so much O herself that stressed me out, but I let everyone else get to me. so much drama with the ILs. my goal this time is to do what works for us, and not allow them to make me feel badly.

@theknest: Same!
I was so stressed throughout LO #1's baby stage... about feeding, sleeping, health, going back to work, etc, etc. I truly don't feel like I was able to enjoy most of it because I was so anxious all the time
With Baby #2, hopefully I'll just soak in and savor every single minute. I just wanna hold and cuddle him/her 24/7 without worrying about whether I'm spoiling them or anything.

I hope to BF til at least a year, and this time I need to get more comfortable doing so outside the house. I am such a weenie...I nursed DD for 14 months but only behind closed doors! I would like LO#2 to not be as reliant on a paci, but it's such a lifesaver with DD that I don't see myself actually discouraging it.

@tororojo: I definitely nursed in public more for LO 2! I always packed bottles of pumped milk for LO 1 because I felt shy about nursing.

@autumnlove: Exactly what I did, pumped bottles. I'm gonna have to get over it!

@pinkcupcake: all of this!
I was an anxious crying mess the first 3 months. I hope to be way more chill and relaxed the second time around and not worry about sleep, eating, etc.

I definitely want to get comfortable nursing in public. I never really did it with LO except when necessary (flying). I'm going to buy a few nursing covers bc I don't like the ones I have (not enough coverage on the sides and the material seems too heavy)

I wanted to learn to nurse side-lying and we did! It was such a lifesaver!

@sandy: Try just using an A+A swaddle blanket. *Way* better than any nursing cover I ever tried.

To promote more independence! Turns out this is easy to do when I'm running after big brother. Baby is perfectly content to crawl into a corner undetected and gnaw on whatever he can find for quite a while.

Better sleep! I think our issues first time around were partially just DS's personality but we were definitely also to blame. The biggest goal is to not co-bed this time.
Although it wasn't a goal, public breastfeeding is something that doesn't phase me this time and I think I only did it on a plane last time.

@sandy: @septca: I also use those blankets. I haven't used my nursing cover at all this time because I realized how much better the blankets are.

I'd love to not stress the little things, ask for more help, and if PPD hits again, get on meds much, much sooner.

@sandy: I like Udder Covers better than the Bebe Aulait covers. I tried AA blankets but my LO always ripped them off!
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
@septca: @skipra: I will definitely get some A&A blankets! Bamboo or muslin or doesn't matter?
@autumnlove: I have the Bebe Aulait and LO hated it. A friend also made me a cover and it's just too heavy but not enough side coverage. I think I'm going to check out the Balboa cover (it's huge) and the Dria nursing cover

I wanted to promote better sleep habits (yay- it worked!!), be more easygoing (check!) and breastfeed for at least a year (had to stop at 3 months for LO #1 and fought the whole time, going strong at 6.5 months for LO #2 currently).
@tororojo: @autumnlove: @sandy: I didn't have a goal of being better at nursing in public with #2 but I've found that I have been! I do it ALL the time. I don't even use a cover anymore- now that she's bigger I've found that if I just layer my shirts and do the shirt up, tank down thing her body/head covers everything that needs to be covered!

So far, I'm trying not to stress and just enjoy every bit of baby #2. I don't want to worry about creating bad habits or if he is eating or sleeping enough or too much.

I would love to not get pregnant at any point in this baby's first year so that I can keep breast feeding and make it to a year. (Only made it EBF to 5 months with DS due to pregnancy.)
I would also love to find a way to baby wear that is comfortable and that DD enjoys so that I will have an easier time getting out with the kids. I tried baby wearing for a hot second with DS and gave up when it didn't come easily.

@sandy: I didn't love using the A&A blankets for nursing. I felt that I needed more security in the form of a strap around my neck.
What worked for me was to wear an open cardigan and then use my nursing cover. I got my side coverage from my cardi and front coverage from the cover.
My goal for #2 is to not stress about BF so much and to try to go with the flow more.

More wearing in the Ergo- done, he lives in that thing! I rarely ever use the stroller anymore.
Better technique during swim classes- I now know the goals we are aiming for and feel like I can do a better job preparing our infant that we did with our toddler.
@septca: @sandy: @skipra: YES!! A&A blankets are the best nursing covers ever, the only ones my kiddos will tolerate!
@sunny: I tie the ends together on the diagonal, so I can slip it over my neck and separate and wrap the loose ends going around each side for more security. I was super nervous about bf and supply last time, this time around I have been much more relaxed about everything

Stress less. Enjoy more. Check!
Exclusively breastfeed. Check!

I hope to baby wear more... I would love to use my wrap on a newborn!
I also hope to be able to EBF to at least 6 months, ideally a year. Only made it to 3-4 months.
I would also like to not be so stressed during pregnancy!

Roll with it and get out of the house more. Not be such a hermit, tied to that pump

Breastfeed until one year, and avoid a bottle strike! Check and check. We introduced a bottle once per day starting at two weeks, and he took to one fine until we weaned at 14 months.
With #1, we breastfed until 11 months, and it was a struggle getting her to take a bottle. She did, eventually, but I was so worried about it when she wouldn't!
