@JoyfulKiwi: Obviously there are always extenuating circumstances as to why someone would not be able to park their car(s) in their garage. But I generally just don't view garages as "free spaces" per se. I view them as spaces meant to house your car. I also don't view sidewalks and street curbs as free spaces. But again, I totally understand the viewpoint of people who want to put stuff in their garage rather than cars and put their cars on the sidewalks and streets.

@PurplePeony: ah, okay. I guess how I've experienced it, it's not that difficult to go around. But I can see how it can be a hassle. I still wouldn't want this parking situation.

Is 3-4 car common in your neighborhood? In my area people tend to use garage for junk and park cars in driveway but usually only 2 cars at a house. 4 cars parked like the pic you posted looks crazy.

I'm truly baffled. I more or less never drive, so I don't really understand the diagram. How do 1 and 2 get in and out? How do 3 and 4 not drive in the grass? Do all 4 cars belong to the same person? Or does it account for visitors?

I'm confused about 1 and 2 also. How are they supposed to get out with 3 and 4 there? Sounds like people should park on the street, not the sidewalk. That driveway was obviously not set up for 4 cars.

I would totally prefer cars park in the street than that. That looks ridiculous and is not practical at all!

We prefer to park on the street just to slow traffic down! The speed limit is 25 but people FLY through the neighborhood since it's sort of a cut through street right now due to construction on a nearby major road. I'm so glad I don't live in an hoa that prohibits this!

That looks ridiculous! For one, how many people really have three or four cars at their house all the time? And secondly, park two of the cars in the garage! That's what it's for.
