A couple days ago I lost my brand new Sony Cybershot. It wasn't the most expensive thing I lost, but it was prob the biggest waste of $ since I only got to use it for a week before some d-bag stole it

A pair of diamond stud earrings.. The sad thing is that I know they were in the house, but buried somewhere in the carpet or under a cabinet. We have since moved so no chance I'll ever see them again.

I threw (well, it slipped off my finger without me realizing it) my engagement ring in the garbage and it was missing for three days. I found it when I went to empty the trash - but only noticed it because the bag was clear. Close one!

@Mrs. Bee: I think I would cry if I lost that nice of a camera! Sorry that happened to you.
@cyndistar3: awful!
I left my expensive sunglasses at the car dealership this weekend. Thankfully, a nice person turned them in. My husband left his iPhone on the elliptical yesterday and some kid swiped it. He found him in the locker room and got it back lol

Knock on wood I haven't lost anything super valuable. I did loose a pearl earring that I got when I was in Spain but they weren't expensive (just hard to find nice pearl earrings here that are real).

Ugh! I haven't really lost anything but aside from my rings I don't have anything extremely valuable.
@calsmom: OMG! Did the kid pee himself when he realized he was caught? What did your husband say?

When we were on our honeymoon, I stupidly took off my new Omega watch because my wrist was getting sweaty. And then forgot and walked into the water. Of course someone saw the diamonds, and I never saw it again.

I left my iPhone at the hospital when I was discharged after having DS!
Fortunately the nurses kept it and I got it back, not only was I freaked out about having to get a new phone with just born baby, but we don't have a home phone, so when I realized I'd lost it I also realized I didn't have a way of calling DH ..or anyone!

Diamond earrings, one fell out when I was with DH (he was my boyfriend back in the day) and so I moved the other up to the cartilage in my ear. Then, I went snorkeling on the coast of Costa Rica and boom...fell into the Pacific Ocean.

I accidentally pulled out one of my diamond stud earrings in the shower at the hospital the day after giving birth to LMW!! I immediately stepped on the shower drain (it had BIG holes) and shouted to Wagon Sr. to come and help me look for it. I found the backing but couldn't find the earring itself anywhere. I felt so sick because I thought for sure it had fallen down the drain. Wagon Sr. eventually found it-- it was sitting on the edge of the shower door!!
Once when I went clubbing in college I decided to stash my leather jacket (with my cell phone in the pocket) under a bench with a bunch of other coats. Stupid. Never saw either one again.
Our car got broken into a couple of years ago and they stole our GPS and my iPod touch.
I know I have lost something else (or had something stolen) that was super expensive and/or sentimental, but I think I've blocked it out of my mind because I cannot recall it!

I still feel INCREDIBLE guilt over this one:
I thought it would be cute to wear my mom's engagement ring to school when I was in 3rd grade. I lost it on the playground. I looked EVERYWHERE but it was gone. My mom thought she dropped it in the disposal and I let her believe it for about 6 months when the guilt got to be too much and I broke down and told my dad. It did not go well (why did I think the person who BOUGHT her the ring would take it easier?? haha)
Granted, in 3rd grade I had no idea what an engagement ring was... just that it was a pretty sparkly ring. but still. I AM A TERRIBLE PERSON.

@thismustbetheplace: oh no, how horrible!!
The most expensive things I've lost was a camera/ipod when I was on a trip and the hostel burned down. I didn't care so much about the stuff per-se, but but was a pain in the butt getting my documents replaced (passport, bank card, etc) while abroad. I also didn't have any $$ to get home, which was a 24-hr bus ride away, ha. I also had no pants.

Luckily I've never lost anything of great value!

@thismustbetheplace: wow. I can't even imagine!!
@cyndistar3: oh no.
1. A diamond earring. I actually found out where he bought them and bought a single one (yes, they sold me a single diamond earring) and he has no idea to this day. Oh yeah, and after I bought it, I found the lost one.
2. I left my favorite p&s camera in a cab in NYC one time. I called the cab company and everything but it was gone.
3. I lost a pearl necklace my Mom gave me for my graduation. I think I left it at a hotel on one of my work trips. SO devastated over that one.

I have no idea where my ipod is, at all. I also lost 2 rings my dad has given me. One opal one for my 5th birthday, and then the cape cod ring he have me for my HS graduation.

@thismustbetheplace: I can only imagine the guilt!! That's terrible, but like you said, you were in 3rd grade. I think it's sort of funny that you let the guilt build up for 6 months though!
I have been pretty lucky and haven't lost anything too expensive or sentimental (that I can remember, at least). I left my Ipod nano on a plane-- I was bummed about the actual Ipod, but even more upset because it was the first "big" gift that DH ever gave me. And I had a camera stolen during a party in college, but it was pretty old then and not expensive anyway, it was more annoying that I didn't have the pictures on it. I don't even think it was digital!
ETA: I've temporarily lost sentimental things, like putting a favorite necklace or earrings in a jewelry bag and then forgetting where it is, but have eventually found the important things. Once it was over a year later but my fave necklace came back to me.

I lost my wedding ring and band about a year after we got married... Cannot be trusted with nice jewelry.

I know this is not nearly as bad as a lot of the PPs, but it still makes me so mad. I had a pair of purple Ray Ban aviators that have the smaller frame and lenses, which were the perfect sunglasses because I have a tiny peanut head and sunglasses always look oversized and alien-ish on me. I never pay for expensive sunglasses, but I splurged on these and had them for several years. On out Puerto Rico vacation they disappeared, and I'm still mourning the loss.
However, I would be way more upset over losing my DSLR, my engagement/wedding ring, or a couple other pieces of jewelry.
@thismustbetheplace: Ahhh! I can't imagine the guilt! Hopefully, they've gotten over it by now!

I left my fav pair of ray ban sunglasses at my parents house, one morning my mom dropped them off at my house (I lived in a 4 plex downtown), she left them on my door handle thinking I'd see them when I got home from work. Well, they were not there when I got home from work. Either someone in my 4plex stole them, or someone cutting through our yard to the bus stop stole them.
So... I guess that was my moms fault. LOL. They retailed about $200.00

DH bought me a nice watch for Christmas one year. I was in the elevator leaving class one day and noticed I didn't have it on. I looked everywhere. I went back to the classroom, looked all over the building and outside. I was hoping I had forgotten to wear it but it was gone.

i haven't lost anything terribly expensive, but i did flush an earring that my mom gave me down the toilet by accident. it had sentimental value. DH lost his wedding ring about a month ago...in our apartment...it cost $1300 and we've searched high and low for it. he bought a replacement ring off of amazon.com for $15.

A necklace my best friends' mom gave me for Christmas one year. It was a cross and all diamonds - from Helzberg diamonds. I don't know how much it cost but I felt horrible. I still feel bad, and I loved that necklace!

@JessLC: Dh lost his wedding ring about 4 months after we got married. It fell off in a wave pool kind of thing. Amazingly, after he called the place a few times a week for a couple of weeks, they found it in the filter and he had it shipped back. It is slightly dinged up but we got it back-- I never expected to. Good thing we went with platinum, I guess.

Wasn't super pricey, but a diamond necklace my "aunt" (stepmom's BFF) left me when she passed away. I'd been throwing up and taken it off in DH's (then BF's) room. (I couldn't stand how tight it felt right then), passed out and forgot to put it back on. Then couldn't find it anywhere. Tore his room apart looking for it. He felt so bad about it he went and bought me a new necklace (that I wear to this day).
Well a year or two later he puts on his winter coat and finds the necklace in his pocket. Turns out he'd found it soon after I lost it and put it in his pocket on his way out the door (with the intention of giving it to me at work) and completely forgot about it. By then I'd given up looking for it so I didn't mention anything that would spark his memory.

@MungBean: did you pay by credit card? Many CCs have accidental damage or loss within 90 days as a benefit!! You should look into whether or not they will reimburse you.
I lost a camera while skiing... I went up and down the same slope for hours and never found it

I lost a check for $700 but I called the person and they reissued it so it was nbd.
