I will be 13 weeks on Christmas Day and *just might* make a general announcement then. I feel a bit more guarded after my losses so I was wondering, when did you announce to extended family, friends, social networking sites, etc? (This doesn't include work.)

With my daughter I announced at 8 weeks.
With my son I made the announcement at 35 weeks.
I had to keep the second a secret due to my living situation. I wanted to tell everyone at 15 weeks with him though.

For our daughter, 14 weeks for social networks, 12 weeks for friends, 8 for family. This time it was 5 weeks for my fam, will be 8 weeks for DH's fam and close friends (we're announcing this weekend) but I won't announce on Facebook until we have a baby in our arms.

I opted to wait to share on my IG account until 19 weeks, I am 26 weeks now. It give us the time to tell family and friends in person and I did not feel extremely compelled to share, but I can be very private about some things.

I was 15 weeks when I did a facebook announcement. By that time all of our family & friends had been told in person.

I can't answer, because nevah!! I didn't announce E until he was born on FB, and haven't announced this kid either.
Family knows, close friends know, HB knows. That's enough for me!

We're telling family at Christmas when I'll be 14 weeks. Waiting (hopefully) until after the new year to tell work and then publicly. So 16-17 weeks I'm guessing?

We told immediate family at 5 weeks, friends in person from 8-12 weeks, then General FB announcement after we did an elective U/S to determine sex at 15w.

last time I told my mother right away, in laws at 7 weeks and friends at 12 weeks. didn't announce pregnancy on facebook at all, just announced her birth. I did receive a few strange comments, but my response was "just because it didn't happen on facebook doesn't mean it didnt happen in real life". I plan on doing the same this time around, the people I see in my life will know, and anyone I don't see, too bad

We did our "social media let the whole world know" announcement just before 16 weeks. Most close family, friends and coworkers knew early on but a lot found out then if we don't seem them regularly. I was uncomfortable even announcing then but we felt like at that point enough people knew that we were afraid others would start hearing the news from everyone else and not from us so thats when we did it.

We waited until after the 12 week scan to tell anyone. We told family first and then friends and announced on social media.

@simplyfelicity: We told immediate family at around 5-6 weeks, selected close friends from 7-8 weeks and stopped actively keeping it a secret at around 10-11 weeks. We did a low-key FB status at around 20 weeks.

I told my best friend the day after my BFP. She had told me really early when she was pregnant with #1, and it turned out that her #2 and my DD were due 2 weeks apart so we both had news to share when I called her! We told our families around 10 weeks and most of our friends at 13 weeks after the NT scan results came back fine.

With our second, the day after she was born (on FB)! Although, close friends and family knew around 14 weeks.

I told close family and friends the day I got my BFP, and social media when we heard the heartbeat at 10 weeks. I didn't post about my pregnancy much on FB, but I took weekly bump shots on IG.

We didn't make formal announcements. Around 24 weeks someone posted a pic of DH and I on Facebook from thanksgiving and people noticed. We told people/they found out as we ran into them.

We told our close family at 5-6 weeks. I would have been happy to wait a little longer, but DH was adamant. We started telling close friends at around 10 weeks. Everyone else waited until after the NT scan, and I also asked my parents and in-laws to hold off announcing it outside the family until then, too. I'm 22w now, and still haven't made a social media announcement (outside of HB), and don't plan to until after the birth, like @FannyMae. My philosophy is: if you were close to me, you'd know. I don't feel the need to announce everything in my life to people I don't see regularly.

We just told people as it became obvious and with everyday interactions. I only told my family and a few close friends directly and let the news trickle. I never officially announced on social media for LO1 or this one.

We told our immediate family right around our NT/12 weeks but waited to tell extended family and friends until 16 weeks. We didn't announce on FB until DD was born though.

20 weeks for my first, and will be 13 weeks with this pregnancy. We waited until we had our anatomy scan with DS, but I'll be obviously pregnant long before that (and will see family over the holidays), so we'll announce via Christmas cards after the NT screen (I've ordered the cards already, but won't send until NT screen).

We told close family early in the first tri. Friends and extended fam after 12-13 wks. Social media after 18w anatomy scan. Same for both pregnancies.

We were cautious as well. I told my mom and sister right away. We told the in-laws and most of our friends around 15 weeks. Work I had to tell almost right away because of all the appointments. I never really made an announcement on FB, but I did post a picture from our maternity shoot around 32 weeks.

I never made a big announcement, mostly told family and friends when I saw them after about 8 weeks. My husband told anyone who would listen when we went to a wedding around 12 weeks so I think that was the biggest announcement! I think 13 weeks and Christmas sounds perfect, congratulations!

We waited until the NT results were back (including bloodwork) before we told our grandparents and aunts/uncles/cousins. Then after that it took a few days to roll out the news to my bosses and pertinent coworkers, and then finally I posted on FB at 13.5 weeks (almost two full weeks after our actual NT scan).

We started freely telling people during week 12. No Facebook official announcement and I've asked family and friends not to post stuff to my wall. Probably will be obvious in Christmas pictures but that's fine.
