When his first two teeth popped in I would try to wipe them with a washcloth when I remembered. It wasn't until he was almost one that we started brushing with a toothbrush every morning and night.

We used toothwipes with his first 4 teeth, and then switched to that toothbrush/thimble contraption {which he hated!} when he got more. At one year, we switched over to real toothbrush and he loves that.

We have the toddler banana brush, but don't use toothpaste yet (LO is 16 months)... been brushing since her first tooth came through.

Since she got her first two - per our pediatrician. It is really more about getting them used to the toothbrush than the health of the teeth, from my understanding.

DS has 6 teeth and won't let me near him with the cleaning clothes or a brush. But, we at least try pretty consistently.
