Usually after Remembrance Day (Nov 11th) I will start outdoor decos since it gets cold fast here...Nov 20th-ish I go all out!

@mrs.shinerbock: I avoid the mall for this reason as well. The only reason I saw the wreaths was because my delicious Chipotle has a mall entrance & I could see through into the mall. The wreaths even had lights on them...which only made me angrier. Heh.

@anandam: I find it so sad that christmas ends as soon as shops can't make money out of it anymore, the epiphany is part of christmas too!!

After Remembrance Day. Especially important this year given recent events. I'm Canadian.

I'm also Canadian, and as I've had so many relatives who've served in the armed forces, we go by the rule that you honour your veterans by not decorating until after Remembrance Day (November 11th).
We don't put the tree up until after December 1st.

I usually start shopping after Halloween, and change out candles sometime in November. I don't actually decorate, wrap presents, bake, etc. until December though.
This year we're putting our house up for sale so that will take priority over the holidays.
