Was up til 5 am or so and then woke up around 8. Tired and a bit surprised I survived a late nighter! I haven't done them regularly in a long time..
When was the last time you pulled an all nighter (or late nighter) for work or school?

Oh man... I don't think I've stayed up ALL night for work ever. There was a few days I worked until 3-4 am (and had to be back by 9 or 10) the first year I was working this job... so 2009ish?
Honestly my last legit all nighter was probably in undergrad. I used to stay up all night if I had a 7 or 8am test then just come home and sleep all day. Not sure why that was a good idea.

A long time ago. I don't know if I even ever pulled an all-nighter when I was in college. I love sleep.
Edit - I do remember one night in Savannah, we were out partying until 4am (bars didn't close till 4!) and then we drive down to Tybee to spend some time on the beach while the sun came up. That was a worthwhile all-nighter.

I think the last time was probably in 2004. It was terrible, it was the night before a huge presentation at work.
I never stayed up all night in college to study...to stay out, yes, but not for writing papers or studying for a test, lol.

never for work, in school... a long time ago! for other reasons, it happens more than i'd like to admit. the first day i can handle, it's the following days that are rough for me and i always end up sick!
@mrbee: i hope you can fit a power 30min nap in somewhere today! 30mins can do wonders for rest

5 years ago? I had to finish employee evaluations that I put it off until the last moment.

I've only done it once and it was my last year of college to work on senior project the night before it was due. That was back in 2009.

Never. I like sleep waaay to much to be able to pull off and all nighter. Once in high school I stayed late (like 1am) finishing a robot we were building for an engineering competition. The closest I've ever done to an all nighter was 4am out with my sister when we were in NOLA this past June. I was dead the next day.

@mrs. bird: 30 minutes?? As soon as I finish my work, I'm going back to bed for good!

Never for work, 2010 for school. I used to do them ALL the time, no problem. right after I graduated I tried to do an all-nighter for fun (movies with a friend) and there was NO WAY. Somehow I aged 20 years just from starting work

The night before I was induced for labor. My induction was "spur of the moment" so I tried to wrap up my work and give detailed instructions to my boss what was left.

It's been about 5 years.... just before I left working at the hospital. Went in for a meeting before my shift (10 a.m), worked my shift (noon to 8pm), and then had to stay for the overnight shift (tech called in) until the next morning (7:30am). Even better was we had an oot trip planned that day so I didn't get to sleep until 5:30 in the evening & then went to a party that night to see a friend perform.
I don't pull stunts like that anymore! lol

Ummm..never. I've only stayed up once all night, and it was a sleepover in 10th grade. And then we went to the beach the next day. I swore I'd never do it again.

I do it 2-3 times a school year when report cards are due. I procrastinate and end up having to pull all-nighters.

@mrbee: hahaha, then you won't sleep tonight! it'll throw off your whole sleep cycle, fight it, don't sleep all afternoon! power naps are where it's at!

I've never stayed up all night for work or school, but last year I did work from 9 am- 10 pm, went home, came back at 8:30 and stayed until 10:00 that night. We had a conference that weekend and I'm pretty sure I worked 28 hours in three days.

April, I think. It's rough! I know that it's a good idea to stay up, but I usually can't. Crawling back into bed ASAP after that kind of night is my best friend!

Never. I love to sleep! I don't have deadlines that keep me up all night for work. When I was in school my parents told me I would perform better if I got a good nights sleep, so I never studied over night.

I may have done it once or twice in college, but I'm the type of person who really needs some sleep or I can't function! I'd rather get even 2-3 hours than stay up all night. I'm most worried about sleep deprivation as a soon-to-be new mom!

I never do all-nighters, I'm usually better off if I stay up until 1 or 2 at the latest and then sleep a few hours and wake up to keep working around 6am or so. I'm not sure if I've had any very late nights since before I passed my qualifying exams for my phd last April-- I was working until about 1am every night and waking back up to work at 6:30, every single day for the 2 months before the exam. I was SOOOO glad when that was over!

I pulled a couple almost all nighters at my last job when I worked in a production facility. After starting at 6am I think I got sleep 3-4:30am so maybe it doesn't count. I was back at the line before 3rd shift left and worked until 2pm. At that point I told my boss I was going to take a nap. To my disbelief he said no and asked me to come back to the line. I think I stayed until 8pm. A**hat.

I (literally) worked from 6 a.m. to midnight once when I was 8 months pregnant (to meet a deadline). Before I got pregnant, I routinely worked 12-14 hours days . . . Since having LO, I have gone back to work after she is down for the night to work until 11:30ish or so (but I have only done that about a dozen times in 9 months). Working *regular* hours has been a huge adjustment for me!
ETA: When I have a huge hearing or a trial, it is not uncommon to work from 6 a.m. until 2 or 3 a.m. for days on end (with a slight reduction in hours over the weekend).

I pulled one about 2 weeks ago for work. My first all-night for work (well, almost: I went to bed at 4 and woke up at 6:30) because we had two grants due and I really needed to get a draft to my boss. I never want to do that again, it's so much harder to do at this age and with child(ren).

I do a couple every month. Not so exciting to hear from me on this I suppose!
But reading these responses does make me somewhat sad at how hard I work!

@Mrs. Jacks: That would be a lot without any of the other stuff you have going on as well! Makes me tired just reading it.

@MsLipGloss: Yeah as I sit here I am trying to calculate how many straight days I've worked in a row right now... I think I'm at 22 and it won't be over until I hit 26...

@Mrs. Jacks: Your posts made me think of this song . . .
The Weight

@MsLipGloss: Love this song! I'm now going to listen to the Band as I do the rest of the report I'm working on! Yay... Happiness.

Last year of high school, I totally put off the most important paper of the year until the day before lol. I never procrastinate like that now.
Recently though, DH and I had to stay up until 4:00am one day to set up furniture for our new office, otherwise our guys wouldn't have had anywhere to work!! We would have set it up earlier (infact, we were supposed to) but the floors took longer than expected and of course the place needed to be empty for the floors.

Hmmm...I did A LOT before having LO. I was in grad school and working full time, so school work came after a 9h work day and I will 5m pregnant. I turned in my thesis and went into my professor's office restroom and vomited because my M/S was still in full force at that point. This was all last year.

Never? I think I've stayed up until midnight to hit a deadline a few times, but my brain starts to shut down after that. I'm much more productive in the morning.

i think once in 2006 for work. before that, i think i did one all-nighter in college after which i realized they are not for me. i am a wimp about sleep.

My last late nighter was last fall for work - we were in India and had to get something done for people back in the states - it has us working all day and all night before the people in the US came into work (9.5 hours behind). It sucked - but then we laid at the pool the next day to recover so it wasn't SO bad.
I used to do it all too frequently in my previous job (external auditor - big 4 firm) when we had deadlines during busy season, It was totally common to be at work until 3-4am, then have to be back at 8-9am,. So much so that for one client - we were put up in a hotel downtown to avoid the hour drives home and back since we worked so late and came in so early. Gosh how I dont miss those 90+ hour work weeks!
