With my last pregnancy, DH was able to come to all but one of my appointments, which was awesome! Now he has a first shift job so he won't be able to come to every single one. He will come to the first one, and any other important ones after that. Which appointments could your DH attend? All of them? Just a few?

@Bao: same! He attended all but one. We just scheduled it around his work schedule.

DH comes to most of them. It depends on his schedule. I have ultrasounds every 4 weeks and he's only missed one so far. However, he doesn't come to as many "boring" regular OB appointments.

I only had him come to the ultrasounds and one appointment at the end to discuss postpartum care. The monthly/weekly appointments were so quick and only - pee in a cup, weight, blood pressure, measurement, heartbeat, "any questions?" - less than 20 minutes every time. It would've been more trouble to get him out of work than it was worth.
ETA He did come to all the hospital visits though - we had a meet the midwives night that went in depth about pregnancy, giving birth, breastfeeding, the care at the hospital, newborn care, etc. And we had a few classes for baby gear and breastfeeding that he went to as well.

My husband commutes almost an hour to work, so it's not realistic for him to make my late afternoon appointments. He did make sure to arrange to come to all three of my ultrasounds, and my first cervical check. I've actually been totally okay with this, because most of the appointments are just a quick check-in, and some doppler action.

He came to the first ones as well as the NT and gender-reveal scans. Towards the end, he came to the last ones as well.

Last pregnancy he came to all of them. I had a miscarriage before so he was terrified something would happen and he wouldn't be there for support. This time he's also been able to come to all of them so far. He has a different job, but it's two minutes away from the doctor so he will take his lunch there.

DH travels 80-90% for work. He made it to the very first ultrasound (at like, 8 weeks, maybe?) and the anatomy scan. There's no point (for us at least) to have him at any of the monthly/weekly routine ones.

DH wasn't able to attend all of them, especially at the end when they were every two weeks and then every week!
He was able to come to the first appointment with my midwife at 12 weeks to meet her (I had been seeing her for a couple years for well-woman appts.) and hear the heartbeat. Then he came to the 20-week anatomy scan and follow up appointment immediately afterwards. After that he tried to attend each appointment I had with a new midwife, but I think only made it to two of those. Then he was able to attend my 40-week appt. with our primary midwife and the 41-week appointment that ended up being our last. -
He lives/works 80 miles away. He came to my first sono/appt at 8 week and a 3/4d sono around 20 weeks. I do wish he had come to more in hindsight, at the time it just wasn't possible for him to to come to all appointments. My OB did an in-office U/S at 12 weeks and could tell the gender and it was a bummer he wasn't there for it.

So far, he has missed both of our level II ultrasounds and my 23 week appointment, and he will miss my 3-hour glucose test, my 29 week appointment, and my 31 week appointment. His busy travel season is June 1-August 15, so I can try to schedule them when he's here but the schedule changes so frequently that it's not worth it.

I tried to schedule all of my scheduled u/s in the morning 1st thing, so he could come to that part and see them. Then he would leave before I had labs or doctor visits. He couldn't make 1 u/s appointment, so I brought my sister (she wanted to come).

Just a few, and all those with an ultrasound.

He came to all of them except for the first one and the last one. The last one was an unexpected visit because I was leaking and freaked out.....I called him 10 min into that appt to let him know I was being admitted into te hospital due to preterm labor and he hustled over from work!

He only came to the elective US and the last appointment. He wanted to drive me since I was feeling funny that day (and later that day I went into labor, so he was right!)

First & second trimesters he came to all. Now that I'm in the third trimester and appointments are biweekly he doesn't attend every appointment.

All the ultrasounds and most of the routine checkups if he wasn't working.

He's came to all but 2 because of scheduling conflicts. I normally try to schedule my appointments around the hubby's schedule.

He came to the first where we had the first ultrasound, and he came to the 20 week scan. I told him not to bother with the rest. I saw no point in him missing work to watch me pee in a cup and get measured. It would be hard for him because his commute is almost an hour long.

for both pregnancies my dh took off the afternoon to come for the anatomy scan at 20 weeks
he commutes over an hour to get to work (and over an hour to get home) and doesn't get paid lunch breaks/sick days etc, so it's a treat when he comes for the scan! i love it!

He came to almost all of them, until they started to be every two weeks...then he came to the growth scan at 32 weeks and I think my 36 week apt.

He's only come to a few-- the first 2, when I was afraid of getting bad news and needing him there, and all the ultrasounds (3 so far). Otherwise it's pretty boring and I spend more time getting there, waiting, and getting home, than I do with the midwife. Now I'm wondering if he should come to any of these end ones-- do they talk about post partum stuff? I thought they would go over that in the hospital not an appointment.
If it was closer to his work it would be easier but even then, not really worth scheduling around since they are so routine.

He came to all of the ones in the beginning. Once I started going every 2 weeks I just asked him to stop coming because the appointments only last a few minutes and consist of weight, BP, listen to the HB, then we're done. I just think it's kinda pointless for him to be there for those (most of the time I think it's pointless for me to even be there!). He'll probably start coming again once I start going weekly/getting cervical checks done. I've also had a very easy pregnancy--if I were high-risk or had complications he'd come to all of them.

@Bao: My DH came to every single one amazingly. We scheduled them as early in the day as possible each time (8 and 8:15 am, and ultrasounds at 7 am!) to not affect both of our work schedules too much. He's also a manager at his work so he was able to be flexible on appointment days.

my schedule has been weird so far, because i have an OB appt every four weeks but also a separate u/s at a place with much better equipment every four weeks as well. So i have two appointments the same week every four weeks. He has come to all of the u/s appointments, but not the last two OB appts (she does a quick u/s at those appts but it's nothing compared to the other u/s appts). He came to my first two OB appts (to meet the doctor and then two weeks later to see the h/b). I will ask him to come to the glucose test appt and possibly some of the later appointments when i'm further along, but for now it's not worth it for him to come watch me get weighed and bp taken when he comes to another appt with me that same week!

DH came to all of my important appointments with my first pregnancy. With the second he has been there for my first 3 ultrasounds (dating, NT, and level 2) but none of my OB appointments. Being diagnosed with GD, I have an ultrasound every month, and he won't be going to those. I feel miserable having to go to them, and I don't want to drag DH into my pity party.

He only came to the ones with an ultrasound. There wasn't any point for us both to miss work for to pee in a cup, get my belly measured, and listen to the heart-rate for 5 secs.

DH and I work for the same small business and as long as I planned our appointments on specific days, he could come to all of them. He didn't come to my NST's though as they wouldn't let him back into the room full of pregnant women on monitors.

He was kinda freaked out at the first one because the midwife did an internal and I also let the med student who was observing do one (they have to learn somehow!). He said it made him feel really weird to see a couple of strangers feeling up his wife, haha. Anyway, he's going to be traveling for work for about a month so he's definitely going to miss one or two visits then, and when they start happening more often I think he'll give some of those a pass. I like being driven to work afterward and not having to catch the bus, though, so he can come to as many as he wants!
