My OB just informed me that instead of a round/normal uterus, I have a heart shapes one and the "baby" (I'm only 5 weeks) is on one side. She said I'm at a higher risk for miscarriage, but at the same time many patients do carry full term and have healthy babies.
I'm just wondering if anyone else had been diagnosed with the same thing?

I have a slight dimple too, which makes it somewhat heart shaped. I did have my son at 34 weeks but it was not due to my uterus.

@snowjewelz: hey mama sorry to hear that, it sounds super stressful, I have read a bunch on uterine abnormalities because I found out I had a septate uterus after 2 miscarriages. I have read lots from mamas who had healthy pregnancies with a heart shaped uterus and its great that your Ob found it so early...sending positive thoughts your way!

I know a friend of a friend who has this issue and is currently pregnant. She is high risk because she actually had a IUD put in and got pregnant with it in due to the shape of her uterus. But because taking it out might cause a miscarriage, they are leaving it in as she goes through pregnancy-- which means lots of monitoring to make sure it doesn't interfere. As far as I know (even with that added complication!) things are good so far and she is pretty far along (like 3rd trimester I think?)

@Mae: that's really good to hear that she is doing well but the sorry sounds scary! I totally understand why tho... The way my OB drew it, I can see how she would have gotten KU even with the IUD

My friend has a heart shaped uterus. Baby was breech partially due to the uterus shape. Otherwise totally normal pregnancy and healthy baby. I'm sure everything will be fine. Good luck!

@snowjewelz: I have a heart shaped uterus and my only complication was placenta previa which corrected itself in the 2nd tri. Had a very easy labor and delivery. Hope you have a smooth road ahead of you, too!

I have the same thing, but not sure to what extent. I've had two successful pregnancies with zero complications.
