Right now it's me because I'm at a temp job and he has the more stable job. Before we would take turns calling.
DD 2 has been sick so much since starting daycare that I'm losing $$ not working and still paying for daycare!

At the beginning of the year I usually stay home because my time is a lump sum and DH's accrues.

Depends on the day. DH teaches on Mondays and Wednesdays, so if she is sick one of those days I take off. If it's a Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday DH stays home with her.

With Xander, it was usually me that did because I was nursing and I didn't like having to pump if there was a reason for me to be home with the baby. But with Logan, I suspect it'll be Hubs who stays home more because I've exhausted my vacation time while on maternity leave and can't afford to stay home...

we try to take turns, but i think it has been me more often because i start work later and have been the one home with LO and DH is already gone to work and then LO pukes so i stay home

We take turns, but the first day is usually me unless I have a meeting/appointment/ect. DH it's harder for him to get away because he has a very small office, I'm part of a huge office so they don't "miss" me as much.

We either both stay home and try to each do a half day from home, or else it's usually me since I can get away with using PTO while DH usually has to work late into the night to make up any work he misses.

We trade off as much as we can. See who's schedule can take the hit, but sometimes one of us is more free than the other. Right now, I have to hoard my days before I can activate STD, so DH will have to pick up a few more

I usually take the first day off since it's easier for me to do so with my job but if DS is sick longer then we will trade off.

We usually split the day. In fact today LO is sick and DH is home with him in the morning and I will be home with him in the afternoon.

I work from home, so usually it's me. If it's something that takes her out for more than 1 day, I usually do the first day, and DH will do the next day. It's something that's really important to me: making sure my job is valued and I get the same consideration as if I worked out of the house.

Usually me, because I have a very flexible workplace and job responsibilities (barring a few projects). I can work at home off-hours to finish my work. If I have to be in the office or have a lot on my plate we will occasionally both work from home so that we can spell each other off! Not ideal, but it works.

Really depends on the day - neither of us prioritize our job over the others', but certain day to day meetings/project/etc will get prioritized. I can also easily work from home.

Usually DH, he's salaried and can work from home, I'm hourly and dont get paid if I'm not at work.

Usually me since DH travels Mon - Thurs but if he is home, he does.

We both have flexible schedules, so we take turns. But more often than not it's me because mine is more work at home-able than DH. His is more after hours work that he can do at home.

DH doesn't leave for work until around 2pm usually, so most of the time I leave work early to take over.

We take turns but dh can work from home with her so he does more often now.

Usually me because I can telecommute and DH started a new job less than a year ago. I'm starting a new job soon though so we will have to default to DH probably.

It's almost always me since I WAH and daycare is just a 2 min walk from our place (if they become ill at school).

We used to take turns, but now it's always me because DH exhausted all his leave during a health crisis last year. It's hard for me to miss work because I work in healthcare and have patients lined up all day, but my boss/coworkers are generally very understanding about it. There's only 5 of us... my male boss is very nice and the other three women I work with are all moms, so they get it.

It depends. My DH's job is structured in a way that makes it really difficult for him to call out sick unless absolutely necessary, but his hours are not the typical 9-5. So if he doesn't have to work, he stays home with DD so I don't have to take time off. But if he does have to work, I pretty much have to use sick leave. Of course, the last time she was sick, DH was out of town for the week so it was me, me, me!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
Usually me because my work is flexible and I can work from home. It's one of the perks I love about my job and can't seem to leave. I'm afraid the next opportunity won't be as flexible.

Me, or we ask for help from grandparents. DH is self-employed and has very limited options to cover for him to be off. It also means we have not had a vacation, other than a long weekend since our honeymoon. Sigh. Sorry to thread jack.

Typically me because my schedule is super flexible but if I can't miss then DH will
