Many people say "we stopped at X kids because that's all we could afford" or "I'd have X kids if we could afford it" but what is it that you worry about affording? What are the necessities that people feel make kids so expensive?
I wonder because DH and I haven't found kids to be too expensive yet (albeit we're only working on #2 now...). We plan to have a large family on one (small) salary. We do a lot of things like farm and buy second hand and we only have a 900 sq ft house so that all saves money but, being able to afford more kids is not a worry for me. I feel like we could easily stretch what we have to a much bigger family, so I always wonder what it is that worries people?
