I have no idea if around my neck of the woods if its normal to have a baby shower for any other children besides your first....im guessing no....

I have no idea if I will or not. probably not. kinda makes me sad, I loved my baby shower it was a lot of fun!

It's not normal but if someone offered to throw me a sprinkle I would not be opposed! Probably will do a sip n see for #2?

Someone offered to throw me a second baby shower, but DS came early and we missed it. It wasn't rescheduled. I think every baby should be celebrated, just maybe no gifts at a second or third shower. I was sad about no shower for DS when I got to that page in his baby book! Why shouldn't he have been celebrated too!

I honestly didn't want a bridal shower or a shower for my first but I did it for my family and DD. I will not have another shower for my second!

I love baby showers - the more the better (for everyone, not just me!). I am trying to talk my sister into letting me throw one for her second baby (opposite gender too!) but she is hesitant about it.
I agree with @mamabehr: every baby should be celebrated! And I want to bless my sister!
So I would love if someone wanted to throw me a second shower.

It's not the norm around here but a sprinkle isn't unheard of but it's usually a surprise and very small. I don't plan on having a shower for future kids though.

I didn't have a baby shower with either kid, but I have been to lots of 2nd (and 3rd and 4th!) showers. I love baby showers!

In Mexico every baby is celebrated. When I've told people here that's not how we typically do it in the US it's been blank in incredulous looks all around. So in a word, yes. I had two showers for my second baby! Well, I guess one was a sip and see technically!

I don't like showers and was pretty much forced into one for this LO. Definitely not having one for the 2nd.

I'd feel awkward about it, just because we have almost everything we need. A celebration that wasn't focused on gifts would be totally fine.

I don't think so. I already told my mom I didn't want one. Maybe close friends will get together to celebrate the baby.... Last time we painted pottery for my lo.

@Mrs. Yoyo: this is why I like the idea of a meet the baby party/sprinkle/sip and see. The focus isn't gifts.

No. The only exception would be if our second is a different gender and someone insisted on throwing a "sprinkle" for some gender-specific clothes. I won't bring it up, though, and won't ask for one. We already have everything we need gear-wise, and I guess I'm just a stickler for old-fashioned etiquette. I think maybe it's better to celebrate babies, after the first, in a way that doesn't involve expected gifts, as the "shower" title sort of alludes to.

It's normal where I'm from (even if baby #2 is the same gender as #1). In my experience, it's been more for celebrating the mom and baby but people bring gifts too. I love the idea of a Book shower for baby #2. We won't be having a shower this time around because we live across the country. We did save almost everything from DS so we don't need a ton for baby #2.
