I'm curious since today is election day. Among many other issues in his platform, one of the candidates I voted for today talks a lot about lessening the pay gap between men and women.

I haven't worked with men in my field in a number of years but I know I'm not making as much as I should be making at my experience level (part of that is my fault, in my current position I kind of took a slight step back).

When DH and I started dating our salaries were similar. Now he has surpassed me by a lot and he's a FRIGGIN TEACHER! I mean, I think he should be making astronomical sums of money for being a teacher, but isn't it generally know that teachers are underpaid? But we aren't in the same field, I am in communications.

ETA: I know this doesn't take into account that husbands and wives may not work in the same field or have the same number of years of experience.
