I work 9 - 5 in the office. I have about a 20 minute commute. I then work at home after LO goes to sleep.

My job begins is 8:30-3:30 but I get into work at 7:30am and I leave at 4pm.
I have a 45-minute commute in the morning and a little less than that on my way home (morning traffic is the worst!).
Monday-Friday.

When I go back to work, I'll work at 7:30. I have flex time so I'll stay between 4:00 and 4:30 and maybe sneak out an hour or two early on Fridays if I get my hours in. I have a 20 min commute and DH will pick up the baby from daycare at 3:00

M-F, 9-5.
Hour+ long commute. So, we are all out of the house 745-615 every day.
bananas / 9229 posts
Commute right now is 1 1/2 hours each way. We're moving later this month so my commute will go down to 30 min. tops (I can't wait!). DH's will get a little longer though.
I leave home anywhere from 6:30 to 7:30 and get to work anywhere from 8:00ish to 9:00, depending on what train I take. Right now, I usually take a 7:00 or 7:30 train home and don't get home until 8:30ish, on average. There will definitely have to be changes once we have a LO!

Right now I work 8-5 M-Th and 8:30-12:30 Fridays.
I love having the half day but I commute 45 minutes each way and its annoying.
I have a new job starting in June with a 10 minute commute but a more typical 8-4:30. I'm not sure how I'll like the change.
honeydew / 7444 posts
I work from 8-4, M-F. I leave at 7:30am, and will usually pick up LO from daycare by 4:30pm. It's a 30 minute commute from my steps to my office door.
I'll most likely work from home once or twice a week, and will keep the same work schedule.

M, Th, F 7:00am-3:00pm(i work from home T and W, and work 6-when i finish). my drive is 20-30 mins.

I feel terrible chiming in after reading some of the commute times above. I work 8:00-4:30 M-F with a 4-6 minute commute (my office is 1.3 miles from my house.)
For the flex-time and occasional WAHM moms- I am envious!
Cheers!

By the time I go back to work we'll have moved and I will be maybe 4 minutes from work, it will be awesome!!
My hours are 8:30-4:30, but I am considering switching to 8-4 or 9-5, thankfully I have options!
5 days a week, occasional weekends with events (that I plan/co-ordinate, and trade off for weekdays off, so whatevs!)

I drop DS at daycare at 8 and take the el to work. I'm in the office until 530 and then get back in the computer around 8 until about midnight.

I'll be working 8-5 with a 20 to 30-minute commute. I don't understand all the 8-hour workdays, do you just not take a lunch, or do your employers count your lunchtime as part of your day? I've only ever worked places where you get an hour lunch but have to work 8 hours so have basically a 9-hour day.
Essentially, I'm jealous.
honeydew / 7303 posts
@ladyfingers: my employer now counts my hour lunch as one of my work hours, its great!!
My new job, I will have to work 30 minutes extra for a 30 minute lunch. It's the one crappy thing I'm getting with my move. It makes me sad!!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@ladyfingers: This doesn't help probably, but my 8 hour day is actually 7 hour with one-hour lunch in middle.

8-5 M-Th, beginning of the week I have 1.5 hr commute, then 20 mins on W, Th, also work 8-1 every sat.

9 -5 Mon-Friday with an hour commute both way. The routine is drop DD at daycare by 8 and I turn my computer off at 5 on the dot and get home by 6.

I do a full time schedule, with 3 days about a 15 minute drive from home and 2 days a 2 hour commute each way.
My parents help a lot, they do day care drop off and pick up, because my husband also has a similar schedule.

I work M-F 7:30-5:30, 10 minute commute, I go home on my lunch hour to watch DS so DH (WAHD) gets to go to the gym/run errands.
persimmon / 1205 posts
My work "hours" are 8:30-5pm but I rarely ever work those hours. Typically I am at work around 7:15 or 7:30am, I hardly ever take a lunch, and leave usually around 5:45. The mornings I go to the gym, I'll get in around 8 or 8:15am, which feels late to me. DH is super helpful, otherwise I would never be able to do what I do. Also, the 15 minute commute (30 minutes in the evening) is a huge help. The days I go to Boston I spend 3 hours commuting. Stinks!
kiwi / 673 posts
My schedule is typically 8-4:30, but I create my own schedule so there's some added flexibility. My office is only 15 min away from home but I do commute for meetings and such to other office locations.
persimmon / 1472 posts
I work M-Th 745am to 6pm and have a 20 minute walking commute each way. My company started off being a family friendly company hence the 3 day weekends and when DD starts school I have the option of M-F with earlier hours so I can be home when she gets off school.

My nanny gets here at 9, and stays until 5. So I leave at 9:15ish and come home at4:50ish. I'm in outside sales so I don't report to an office. I pump 2x a day in the back seat of my car- booooo:(

I work M-F 6:45 AM till about 3:30 PM-ish. My commute is 45 mins each way.

I go back to work on Monday and will be working 8-3. I work for my Dad though so I definitely have felixbility in my schedule that most don't. My commute is about 20 minutes but my Mom will be watching LO so that will add another 20 min to the commute for pick-up and drop off at her house...
grapefruit / 4006 posts
i work 8-5:30 and have a 20 min commute each way. looking at a lot of the other responses, i have a really long day but compared to what i used to work, my hours are fantastic.
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
LO not here yet but the plan is for me to work 7-3 or 3:30 (depending on if/how much I have to pump). My commute is about 15 mins, which is excellent. Right now I work 730-330 with no lunch (15 mins, but really...) I'm hoping that I can wrangle a 30 min lunch that I can split into 2 for pumping sessions, but we'll see

Typical week is M-W in office 830-430 with a 30 minute commute, work from home Th/Fr.
It's pretty flexible though and I can work remote as necessary.

7:30am - 5pm Monday through Friday with an hour commute each way. No lunch break. Gotta love the hospitality industry... Not.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
I work 8-5 four days a week (no specific lunch, unless you count HB time). Leave the house at 7:15, drop DS off at daycare, get to work by 8. Leave work at 5, get DS at daycare at 5:45 and home at 6. I often work at night and on weekends and on my day "off."
clementine / 943 posts
@oahujeni: no lunch break?? Isn't that against the law? You poor thing!!
I'm in hospitality too, but I'm M-F, 9-5:30. 30 minute commute on the bus each way. 30 minute lunch. I work in the catering sales office, but I'm an assistant so I don't have to be there for events at night or on weekends.
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
@yellowbird: I finagled a 7:30-4 schedule with a half hour lunch. My commute is 30 minutes with no daycare drop off. It's 50 minutes with daycare drop off.
pear / 1837 posts
I'm in the office Mon-Thurs, and usually work a half day from home on Fridays. I can take the whole day off if I want to and my schedule permits, or sometimes I work a full day, and I come to the office if I need to be there for a meeting.
My schedule is very flexible. On days when I drop LO off and DH does pickup, I tend to drop him off around 8, get to the office around 9, work till 5:30 or so, and then get home at 6:30. On days when I pick up LO, I try to get to the office by 8 (DH drops off) because I have to leave by 4:30. Those are my base hours- I also tend to work from home in the evenings when I need to, or will sometimes get up early to work on something before LO wakes up.

6:50 - Leave house
7:00 - Drop off DD at daycare
7:30 - Arrive at work
4:30 - Leave work
5:00 - Pick up DD from daycare
5:10 - At home starting evening routine
Before DD I worked 6 - 5, so she's brought my hours down considerably!
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
M-F, 8:00a - 4:30pm. I also have flex time so once my LogMeIn account is set up I hope to bow out a little earlier on Fridays in the summer time!
@ladyfingers: I opted for a 30 min lunch to get out at 4:30pm.
eggplant / 11716 posts
I work 8-3, but my commute is an hour or more, so I leave home around 6:45 am and get home about 4-4:15.
Next school year, I'll be on Mat leave from September-close to the end of November, then I have Thanksgiving break, 3 weeks of work, then Winter break. So basically, I keep telling myself that I only have to make it through 6 months of work (Jan-June) before I'm quitting and looking for something closer to my house.
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
My hours now are 7:30am-4:30pm, M-F. We are throwing around me going back to work T-F after LO comes if we can afford it and my employer approves. I have a 25 min commute each way.
Our daycare is only open 8:30-5:30 so our plan as of now is to have DH do drop off and me to pick up since he rolls into his office at 9-9:30 each day and gets out closer to 6. His commute is only 15 mins and our daycare is 5 mins from his office and 10 mins from mine.
bananas / 9229 posts
@MrsH: I know... We're moving later this month and my commute will be a third of that! Made the decision to help me with work hours and eventually a LO. I have to bill roughly 10hrs/ day

@LindsayInNYC: yikes, my billables are definitely not that high. What are you at like 2400? I would cry or go crazy or both.
