At 18 months DS only said mama, dada and cat - words her could say at his 12 month appt. but in the last week he's been saying hohoho, pretty (for the Christmas tree) and on (turning on the light switch)! Hooray! I had to share since I was so so worried!

@Mrsjets: hooray!!! Isn't it amazing how all the sudden they just start coming? I swear M is popping out a new word a week now!

That's great! And it'll continue to get better.
I found that the words get more clear as they get older too. LO used to say wawa but now says water so clearly that DH misses it.

Aw that's so great! M is almost 12 mo and I'm trying to teach her "ho ho ho". We did "gobble gobble" for Thanksgiving and it came out like "ga ga"

@Mrsjets: I bet it will just explode from here. I was very worried about Ellie, to the point of thinking she would never speak and would need to use ASL (not that that's a bad thing, I just would have had a LOT to learn). But once she started around age two, it really took off fast. It is really fun to watch the expressive ability take off like that.
