@coopsmama: Now i feel like they're just fucking with you or something!
Trespassing and damage to property, right?!

That looks like a terrible tree trimming job. I am glad your neighbors called the police to report it. Sorry you have to deal with this stress.

@MrsBrewer: @Kimberlybee: @blackbird: Well, the cops came and slapped trespassing on them and can't do much more than that unfortunately. Our house is sold (pending) so we have informed the property owner over there that we will be taking them to civil court if the sale falls through because of this.
The whole situation is such a mess and full of lying and deceit on their part - the cop said he would be furious if it were him. There is so much more to it but I don't have time to share. Suffice to say it has NOT been a good Monday. I've done a lot of crying this afternoon because I hate confrontation.

@coopsmama: Oh I'm so sorry
How frustrating! I would be angry crying for sure. I really hope it doesn't impact the sale of your house... That would be a nightmare.

@coopsmama: I cant believe this is still going on!! I would totally sue them if the sale falls thru on your house!

I hate that there is not more they can do. The neighbors that hired them called the cops? I'm glad you have a police report so if there is further incident then it's already on record. I would slam this company on every business site possible to put out the warning (and probably publically on FB/ect. so others are aware!)

Ugh that's awful. I had a feeling this would happen. My husband tried to go the cheap route for tree trimming once and it ended very badly. We did get a judgement against the guy but we haven't filed the lien or anything yet. I *really* hope this doesn't affect your sale!!!

@LuLu Mom: No, it was a different neighbor. She had heard about the last month of events (yes, this "arborist" as the neighbor who hired him called him, has taken a MONTH to do their tree job) from us so when she saw them over in our yard again she went over and told them they needed to leave and when they were aggressive (they're just thugs) she called the PD.
@Mamaof2: @dagret: The thing that is most weird is the owner of the property with the trees doesn't seem to care, either. My husband went over to talk to the tree trimmer on Saturday while he was in the tree. He asked for the phone number of the property owner because we can't find his info ANYwhere and the tree trimmer refused to provide it. He said, "if you don't let me access your yard, I will cut both of your trees down; and you can just sue me!" The cops did force the number out of them yesterday so DH called the property owner. My DH recorded the call and it turns out the owner was hiding behind the fence and listening on Saturday when DH was pleading with the tree trimmer for the number!
My neighbor (the good one ) and I were in my backyard yesterday when he aggressively cut that huge half of OUR tree down into the yard. It almost hit both our fence and deck and had it hit us, would have seriously injured or killed us. The situation is so messed up. Because of how far it escalated I'm a little afraid to be home alone all day. I hate that feeling.
We hired a professional tree company to come out and they worked until dark last night and its mostly cleaned up. Our real estate agent is calling the buyer's agent after it's all cleaned up this morning and we are going to ask the buyer what he'd like done. The tree is pretty much ruined (tree company we hired said it almost certainly won't recover) so we are offering to remove it completely. If he gets cold feet because of it we may offer a credit to buy new tree coverage or something. Cross your fingers for us!

@coopsmama: I am so, so sorry that this is happening, and I hate that you don't even feel safe in your own home.

@avivoca: Thank you. I'm just hoping that the tree trimmer and his crew listen to the no trespass order given by the cops and stay away. I can't believe how out of hand this became.

@coopsmama: This sucks! I am so sorry you've been dealing with this. I'd feel exactly the same as you. How frustrating! I can't believe those guys are being such assholes! I really hope your new buyer doesn't get cold feet and takes the deal. Fingers crossed!

@coopsmama: this is just crazy! What did your neighbor (the one hiding behind the fence) have to say about this whole mess?!
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
What a mess! I hope the new home owner's are understanding and will take the house as-is or with the tree credit.

Oh my goodness - that whole situation is so bizarre! I can't believe a business can just be so callous about how they represent themselves. Hopefully it doesn't affect your sale and you can have a ridiculous story to tell now!
Also, it really sucks that your (bad) neighbors don't seem to care at all - that's incredibly rude and I'd be glad to be moving away from them

This is just so crazy!
Hopefully if doesn't affect your sale. I'm glad you're getting away from those crazy neighbors!

wow that is unreal! I am so sorry. Hope the sale goes through and bad tree karma comes back around to these idiots!

Holy sh*t, that's YOUR tree? THEY CUT DOWN YOUR TREE?!?! My husband would have lost his sh*t. This tree "company" should have their license revoked (if they even have one). What a mess.

Wow! I can't believe how bad this has gotten for you. I'm so so sorry that you have to deal with this.

@Littlebit: He was just very apathetic about the whole thing and was like "well I really don't know what to say." He never apologized or anything. We're realizing that the tree trimmer just walked all over him and I think may have even used intimidation with him. The tree guy only charges $200 to cut down a tree (vs. $1000 it usually costs for a true pro!) and so trimming is a lot more effort than just chopping it down. I think he just wanted to do the easiest quickest job possible for his money.
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: @swurlygurl: @oliviaoblivia: @bpcmarj: @Mrs. J: @HabesBabe: @bluestriped bee: @Shutterbug: @Mrs.Pinecone316: My good friend is a cop with the SD and he stopped by today and said that the workers with the tree crew all had prior criminal history and were on suspension. Obviously the police can't do much in our situation but it's interesting to note they have a prior record.
The guy we hired did a GREAT job cleaning our back yard up and hauled 2 huge trailer loads out. Our agent says it looks like we handled it proactively and that it looks good so hoping he loss of the tree isn't a huge deal! As I said before the tree was behind our fence (even though on our property - it's an odd fencing situation that the previous owners did) so hopefully he won't have even realized the tree was part of the property. We have to disclose though, obviously.

@coopsmama: Thinking of you and being hopeful for you that everything goes as smooth as possible with the sale of your house. Your tree neighbor probably learned his lesson that good doesn't come cheap when it comes to house repair or issues.

I just caught up on this and WHAT A MESS. OMG I would be SO livid over the most recent update - that huge tree and YOUR tree! And the owner of the property "hiding"? geez. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this I hope your sale doesn't fall through!
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@Mrs. Pen: @Kimberlybee: @photojane: Thank you so much for thinking of us and being sympathetic! One of those situations it feels good to rant about.
I just got word that the buyer said to leave the tree as is! So thankful!!! I was thinking he would ask us to have it removed but this is the best possible scenario.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@coopsmama: oh good to hear! Sounds like a reasonable buyer... unfortunately he'll also have a crappy neighbor
nectarine / 2192 posts
So glad the buyer is fine with that. Do you have any lawyer friends, or you could call an ambulance chaser lawyer who will probably do a free consultation.
